I know the old saying, if its too good to be true it probably is, but looking around on ebay last night i found a few interesting (and suspiciously) cheap options to get some extra power from the car. Ive been thinking of getting my 2L Z3 remapped but saw these on ebay for buttons. Im just curious to see what everyone else thinks of them? Im thinking they would probably destroy the engine if theyre so cheap!

The first one is really odd. You get power gains by adding a strain on the battery? Not sure how that is going to work! It is not even in the main battery circuit, so what is it doing to the power going into the car? It is sapping off some of the peaks to make them more even possibly. Not sure that will help, replacing the cables in the car would give a better result.
As for the second, changing the electrical characteristics of the car that the ECU assumes is a certain way is never a good plan.
So, to good to be true for a reason. Nothing replaces a good remap and basic tuning to air in and out.

Yes, BMW spend £50M designing your car only to leave out a 50p resistor that would increase the power by 10%.
That resistor will
a) Trick you ECU into changing your air/fuel ratio
b) Cause the engine to run rich
c) Increase fuel consumption
d) Foul the spark plugs, leading to early failure and replacement
e) Foul up the cat, leading to early failure and replacement

0.5V of ripple does not make a difference.
