After my Bad experience with on car, on drive Rim repaint, I decided to start again. Went along to view works and before/after examples of Alloys at Local specialists in Woburn, Bucks. www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk
Professional set up, Clean ,multi machines, Jigs, Spray booths, large storage/shipping area, +++.Chose a Silver as near as poss to original.
I removed stars and fitted spare track wheels, and delivered to works.Quoted Price of £96+V per rim,and three days to allow for any problem on a 4 set colour /shade match.
Had thought this was the time to replace Tyres, and was confused after the Forum debates and probs of some owners, so it would be a Set-But who,s to fit,??. Decided on Falkens, with an increase on rear up to 255 x 40 x 17. My sons M6 & M5 have been Falken shod for some years, and wet and dry, road or Ring-have been 100% inc wear rate. My set X 4 £386 , F1,s £546.
To-day as promised, advised rims ready-so with Tyres collected from other suppliers, off to get fitted to rims.WOW!!!! Rims look Great, far better than a New original set.
I now watch the fitter prepare the Rims for covers, NOT Ala K/fit, but with Masking tape on outer face, laying face down on machine and putting tyre on from rear of rim, so IF any scuff marks--they will be on unseen rim.
Needless to say-----NO marks anywhere. Now to refit and Run in , ---- Isle Of Man style!!!!!!!!!!.this weekend.Just UltraSeal to be applied now.
Pristine have agents throughout country, if your rims are a popular style-ie-M3 type they can exchange a refurbished set for yours, after agents inspection. So saving your car being offroad . They get Rims sent from as far away as Cyprus, and all EU.Lexus, MB, Audi, BMW , just some of the UK clients.

I've heard that there the best place to go. Do they lacquer (think that’s how its spelt) the rim for easy cleaning etc.
Apparently you can ask them to diamond cut the dish for an unique finish but i guess thats extra.
Glad to hear another person has had a good experiance with them as my //M is going that way when the sun starts to fade, well i guess thats now!

Refurbish Service.
mrloneranger , various finishes and costs.cleaning now is just soapywater.
321-Vgood price, was it a warranty/goodwill gesture & was there damage to Rims ?? seem to remember you had a prob with wheels.
I think if one has a bad experience with another service, you want a known result , from Pro,s-- so near to my area was also a benifit.
I also renewed all badges, wheel nuts and fitted a Mcgard lockset.

I had problems with fatwheels with regard to turnaround to the pt I missed a track day, RR session and almost my MOT. 5 days became 4 weeks!
But wheels back now and finish is lovely. Now in series 2 shadow chrome rather than series 1 M stain chrome.
But cost ws almost £400 with carriage but I ended up with twice the paint cos they got the oclour wrong initially. Not perfect but not far off.
Track wheels going to get painted black for the hard edged look.. but I wont be going back to fatwheels I have to say..

Which equates to £1104.50 for a set versus, by the service that you got, £400 for your set to be refinished - a difference of £704.50 - that sounds like a big reason to bother with the hassle of refurbs ...M Blur wrote:... Let's not forget that the cost of new front Roadstars are £225 + VAT and the rears are £245 + VAT. That's brand new ...
True David but let's face it - usually we only need 1 or 2 refurb'd and whilst close, refurbs are rarely bang on. The price of new Roadstars seems to have fallen a lot since the original pricing.DavidM (King Of Chrome) wrote:Which equates to £1104.50 for a set versus, by the service that you got, £400 for your set to be refinished - a difference of £704.50 - that sounds like a big reason to bother with the hassle of refurbs ...M Blur wrote:...
