What wipers?

Tyres, exhausts, suspension, strut braces, air filters, brake pads/rotors and anything else for 'dawn raiders'.

What wipers?

Post by Jewell »

Trojan just passed his MOT @ Scotthall BMW with an advisory: "wiper blades noisy across screen". I told them to go ahead and fit new, but luckily, they didn't have any in stock (£40.63) Any recommendations please :?:

I tried a cheap set from eBay and was disappointed LINK
They didn't sit tight on the passenger side and left a streak at the centre of each blade.

Eventually got a set of GoodYear from Costco (£6 each + VAT) and am really pleased with them.
Totally silent and streak free.

Thanks for the recommendation, just made a purchase on ebay, need them for MOT as current ones must have dried out solid and happily skp across the windscreen!

I also got the aero type of ebay but I bought 20/19 inch rather than 20/20 inch, they do fit much better. The 20 inch on the passenger just looked too long.

I do get some smearing in the center though. They do the job ok but I would probably spend the extra money next time for something better.

I fitted a pair of AR480S Bosch 19" aerotwin retrofit flat last year and they've been great,
very little wind noise, no screeching and wipe well for less than £20-00.
As in Titan's post I still get a slight overlap on nearside when wipers parked.

Good idea :thumb:

Same problem that I had - it's as though the stiffeners are TOO strong and arc the blade off the screen at the mounting point.
The more expensive variants seem better in this respect ;)

In case anyone is looking to fit Bosch Aerotwin wipers to a LHD - I found that for some reason to fit properly I needed one 18" and one 19". (and not 19" and 20" as has been recommended here for RHD).
So far (24hrs) they look and sound good.

I've just put 20"/20" Bosch Aeros on. They certainly fill the screen but I'm perfectly happy with them.

Fine - on mine they would overlap onto the rubber edges.

Biff, baff, Bosch. Though my previous set went noisy after about 18 months. New ones have been on a while now and still nice and quiet.

Called in ecp for set Bosch for wife's QQ had them on counter ,gave me price so I asked for the discount of 25% available on line with discount code. He could not do that but suggested I went out to my car, ordered them on line, then come back in. Did that, great got the discount.
Last year when getting new windscreen fitted at dealers I asked them to put new blades on at same time ,they came back screen was exstock but blades were on back order 8 weeks, suggested I pickup a set of Bosch and they fitted then ,no extra charge as blade were off for screen. My insurance only increased the excess by £10 if I required a genuine bmw screen dealer fitted.
