Strut Brace

Post by Captain »

Has anyone fitted a strut brace on a 2.8i after doing the m50 inlet mod, I'm looking at fitting one but not sure if the brace will clear as the manifold and fuel rail sit quite a bit higher after the mod.

Slightly of track but whats involved doing the manifold change as I would really like to do my 2.8 to. What parts are required and does it then need remapping?

Cheers

I had my local mechanic do mine, you obviously need the M50 inlet manifold, then the vacuum lines need to be modified to suit the new manifold which is a bit of a mission, a new bracket has to be made to secure the dipstick, thats basically what needs to be done. There are kits you can buy that have all the necessary parts for the vacuum lines etc. I had my car remapped as you do lose some low down torque after the mod, the remap brings it all together nicely. :D

Sounds good to me, think I will get the parts and do it then get Simon at Emaps to do the remap for me :)

Any idea what gains you got from doing it, hp and more importantly torque?

I also had branches fitted and a complete performance exhaust done, we are also lucky in that we don't have to have cats fitted. The car made 172 Kw and 291 Nm on the dyno, which is a 31 Kw and 16 Nm improvement over stock. :D
