Airbag light on
Airbag light on
Hi guys, any way other than an expensive trip to BMW to turn off my airbag light? I have checked the cables from the seats and these seem good. Think the previous owner has swapped out the steering wheel whether that could be the issue. Is an airbag light on an MOT failure?
Re: Airbag light on
It has to be reset using a computer or tool as it involves clearing the error codes from the airbag control unit. Anyone with INPA should be able to do it, if there is someone near you with it, or you can buy a cable and do it yourself. It is supposed to becoming an MOT failure. It is caused by a momentary break in the circuit and the original connectors are known to suffer from a fault that can cause this - usually when you move the seat - it can also be brought on by operating the ignition with the seats removed - probably also by removing the steering wheel and operating the ignition - but the former is the most common.

I think it is an advisory. It was going to be a failure, but it was decided that it was too easy to fool the tester and it was removed from the test.Z3LINCS wrote:Is an airbag light on an MOT failure?
To confirm, I'd ask a tester, but don't wait until the test to ask.
