I have just asked the ACS expert the same question...I was told 225's on the fronts and 235 / 245, or even 255's for the rear....

What width are the wheels and are the rears wider? The width of the tyre will depend on this but the profile should be the same as any other 17's fitted to a zed. Standard sport wheels come with 225/45/17 at the front (7.5" wide rim) and 245/40/17 (8.5" wide rim) on the rears if I remember. If they are wider/narrower to start then you adjust the width of the tyre but normally any 17's that fit a zed come with the above specs if they are staggered.

You can but as implied above you may be limited by what options are available to retain close to original rolling radius

The type III's I just got have are ET43...The front offset on the Z3 is 46 so I'mm getting a set of 5mm spacers for the fronts...the backs I already have 1o or 12mm spacers, so no problem there... I reckon 235/50 on the front and 245/50 on the rear will be about right as far as final wheel radius goes.
My Type III's are 17 / 8,5J / ET43. Check on the inside of your rims to get the info for the rims you've bought.

235s on the front will work but your steering will feel heavier. I have both and prefer 225 on the front.

The ideal offset to aim for on the fronts is 36ish. On the rear depends on wheel width and which z3 you have ie narrow or wide body or ///M.

I would always get the rears on the car and decide what spacer will bring the wheel out to the wheel arch.

Tyres can be make dependant on how much or little rim protection they give for a given size.

I have 225 18s on the front just now . its a facelift 3.0i I have ....
Im thinking about getting 225 40/45 .17 on the front and put 235 or 245 /40/45 .17 on the back ...
any more recommendations on what will look good and fit well for me . alloys have been blasted back to metal today and they said they are in a acid bath at the moment , get powder coated on wed( high silver )

225/45/17 on the fronts and 245/40/17 on the rear I would go for, same as most set-ups on 17's fitted to a Z3. Or 225/45/17 all round but the wider setup on the rears would look better 8-)

That's what I would fit 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear.
