Z3M Advice on replacement panel filter? K&n? Pipercross etc

Post by Strikem »

Hi all,

Any advice on replacement panel filters? Anybody recommend one they have fitted??

Pipercross or K&N etc??
All seem around £35 on ebay. I always think they are a good investment early on in a car ownership. No need to replace each service, just maintain.

Any advice would be appreciated.

...any old piece of foam to soak up the water...you guys don't have warm dry weather, so I don't see the point of expensive filters...I mean..what exactly are you filtering...snow, rain, water, ??? :roflmao:

From someone who has spent many hours researching induction options and filters for the Z3m (and runs a K&N) stick with OEM. They do just as good a job and are cheap to replace.

ps and don't go down the open filter route as you will just suck in hot air.

If you want a bit of induction noise /slightly free'er revving then look at a Simota for c£250 which as an oil coated cone filter but is such a good fit there is little heat soak.

There are lots of arguments as to whether oil coated filters affect the MAF sensor so I won't go there ;-)

For £30 it's got to be a K&N then. If not just for a little more roar!!??

I have replaced the standard filter with a Pipercross filter which is more than satisfactory and it was slightly cheaper than a K and N.

I've had both kn and pc panels before on other cars. Found a deeper sound from the pipercross (which I prefer).

Any other recommendations??
