WIDE BODY vs FACELIFT...

Here's the Q.
Is the widebody (prefacelift) Z3 have a different rear axle to the facelift Z3 which thereby allows it to be a "widebody". Or are all Z3's mechanically the same back there and only the actual "body" is the variant.

There are differences between the widebody and facelift, IIRC the rear beams are different widths.

Thanks Brian...what rear "beams" are you referring to? ... and are the drive axle lengths the same for both versions... ie. I know the E30 and the Z3 share many components, but the E30 drive axles are slightly shorter than the Z3 / E36 axles. Did the facelift Z3 revert to the shorter E30 axle when they narrowed the body ?
