2-way radios

Post by Jon Miller »

Folks,

A question for those cruise veterans among you. During the last two lake district cruises I went on a number of people had radios, what spec radio do I need and does anyone have a specific recommendation

Cheers

I have a couple of rechargeable motorolas. They are a good basicish radio but lack volume for car use, so ideally require a headset.

The main think to look for is the amount of Channels. Probably not that important actually for cruises, but essential on the mountain - cos every bugger has one!

Come with rechargable packs and charger. 3km range. Have got a jack for a headset too

Its a PMR446 radio set your looking for, Eight main channels and others have sub groups, although I've never known them used.

I have a Cobra set, which I'm very pleased with, worth considering your battery options when picking a set.
