GT5 Prologue

Post by Giles »

I treated myself to a PS3 last weekend and bought GT5.

The whole game is excellent, but the online experience in particular is totally superb. I assume there must be others here that have this game - is it possible to fix a race online for specific participants? Ie a ZRNet race in Z4's perhaps?

If there is a possibility of that, and despite Alfie's comments, count me in :)

Shame there aren't any Z3's.

Giles, ditch GT5 and download the Grid demo, getting into the drifting at the moment but the racing is equally good and has damage unlike GT5.

Call of Duty 4 and GTA are pretty good online too.

I can second that! :D

I too would be interested in a GT5 race, if it can be done.

Haven't played GT5 Prologue for a while, so, there may be an update, but, last time I played it, you could not race your friends, only random people...

While GRID may have damage, to me the cars handled very oddly - maybe in the full game you can tune cars as in Forza and GT. It seems to be aimed between the arcade style driving games and the simulation ones. The drifting aspect of it doesn't really interest me much, but, it's interesting to see a game mix styles.

I've got an xbox rather than a ps3 but I was very disappointed in the grid demo - esp. as I was looking forward to it, having enjoyed Dirt, also by codemasters.

admittedly I haven't played the demo that much - busy playing gta iv at the moment - but it doesn't seem as good as forza 2, pgr 4, or tdu, either in handling or graphics.

I have GT5P. Shame about not being able to race freinds, but I beleive there will be a patch to add damage or they'll definitely be running with it in the full GT5. If anyone wants to add me, pm me for PSN.

Hi Giles,

Had GT5 for a few weeks now. Not played it much though (no time)

Had a chance to look at Grid in a bit more detail and downloaded a demo over the weekend.

Nice graphics, damage is superb, but handling is way off the mark IMHO.

Each game appears to have it's emphasis on realisms in different areas and as such I'm not sure they can be directly comparable as the YouTube video tries to suggest.

My thoughts exactly Giles...

GRID does seem to sit in that middle ground between arcade game and simulation. Also if the person that posted that video thinks that GRID is so realistic, how come you can rewind from an accident and do it differently? Would be fantasic to do that in real life, but, sadly you can't as far as I am aware...

I downloaded GRID over the weekend. Doesn't seem like Codemasters could be bothered. They just changed the graphics of DIRT to have less mud and hey presto another game! Looks somewhat fun, but I'm already bored of the loading screens just from the 2hrs played on the demo! :head:
