McLaren MP4 12C

Post by Phil » Thu 20 Sep, 2012 20:47

My friend Gary, who contributes on here from time to time, has just taken delivery of a gorgeous new McLaren. Collected from the dealer this evening and came round to my house to take me out in it.
616bhp, carbon fibre everywhere, gull wing doors. Totally mind blowing and stunning.
Never seen so many heads turn to follow the car as we drove out of Solihull and into the country.
Enjoy Gary :)
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

If you've got 12 minutes watch this and then bear in mind Gary's is 616bhp.
I thought his 997 turbo was quick but this was even better and he has to keep it below 5500rpm for the first few hundred miles. He turned up at my house straight from the dealer so even the controls were unfamiliar to him but the drive was amazing.

Fantastic car. The nearest I have come to one is sitting in the demo car at the dealership in Knutsford and that was enough for me to want one.
Unfortunately there was a 9 month waiting list so I didn't bother, oh and of course the £169,000 cost had some bearing on my decision.

Phil, always a pleasure to share the good things with friends in life..
Sadly a wet day today, so not too many pictures taken or miles covered.

Takes me back to the interior I had in my Z3

I might try and put a date in the diary now I'm not so busy with the Porsche guys...

It's a sexy car 8-)

A mate of mine went to the Kensington showroom to look and give a deposit, they wouldn't let him in and told him he had to make an appointment, he believes it was because he was wearing jeans and an old tee-shirt

He has since put a £20K deposit on the 2014 Lambo

Gary, I had the opposite and probably only the second time I've enjoyed buying a car (first being my zed)
Admittedly It is all down to the people in the Showroom and I clicked with all of them apart from once with a receptionist who had a right go prior to being dragged away by an apologetic dealer principal!!
The guys said that people who came into money are few and far between and they knew most people earned their money and their time was precious- so many did come along not dressed to the hilt... although I'm not sure the van parked on the forecourt helped with the receptionist

Mind you it does remind me of my visit to the Ferrari dealership!- although once an appointment was made they were just as welcoming.- I also knew the secret passwords by then

WOW Gary.... Another amazing motor to add to your already impressive list.
I'll look forward to meeting it in the metal sometime soon.
Congrats mate!
:D

And (apart from the colour) those seats really do look like they could be out of a Z3...

Cheers.

Cheers Alfie, I may be in your neck of the woods on the 29th, but tbc as yet...
Whether the seats are as good as my Porsche ones is yet to be seen, if anyone has the chance to try/sit in Porsche adaptive seats do give them a go- they're like a glove!!

Amazing car G and it it is touching that you still love your old Z3 in the same way. One day I am sure I will achieve my dream of a Z8 but my first and more recent Z3m are everything to me and I have kept them both longer than any other car I have had.......... which says so much
