E46 M3?

Hi peeps..
Just wondering is there anyone here who's had experience or owned one?

Any things to look out for? Smg box any good? Or best to stick to a manual?

Have a friend who owns one and he's recently had to have a new head gasket.. :( Cars milage was 106k, is this a common fault on the S54 engines? He seems to think so

Hi there i would definately go for the manual gearbox,
the smg can be a bit notchy at slow speeds and alot
more expensive if they go rung

I've heard SMG II is better

Like most M3's I would imagine it has had the t*ts ragged of it on that mileage.

Its difficult to find a good one i suspect.

Most have been abused and not loved.

The csl cars are the best, but fetch a large premium.

I know it was higher than the norm, but worth it for the piece of mind :)

I think the biggest problem with the E46 M3s are that there's so many forsale! Compared to Zms and coupes...
It would take you months just to find a good one!
Plus having been spoiled finding my current Zed I think my expectations would be to high :shake: I bet there's a lot of chaff M3s out there..

I looked at a 03 plate 330ci Auto the other week with 35K on the clock for 7K, was absolutely mint but it won't fit in the garage which is annoying as would have gone for it to replace the Z3. Might have to be a 130i if I can find a good one.
