BMWCC festival Gaydon Sunday Aug 10th

Post by Phil »

It would be great to get a large number of Zs on display at Gaydon this year. It is also possible to arrange some off site drives around the Cotswolds if anyone is interested.
I need some idea of interest please.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

It looks very good, I'm thinking taking my goodlady for a long weekend away & calling in on the shown on the way home on Sunday (nice move??)

My car is not as pristine as you guys here & on the pics and will probably be covered in dead flys etc by the Sunday, is their a sperate place to park for us "not just yet concourse" models?

Yes there was a seperate parking area last year so if you want to go off roading beforehand it doesn't matter! :D

Hi,

Last year I went to the above to buy some extras, mainly interior etc but everyone said 'if only you had said I would of brought them along'. I am not a grea otne for buying on spec and like to see what I am buying.

I therefore asked for a list of companies attending and thought I would pass it on.

Hi Phil and everyone!

It's a date!

I will come and show my very rare BMW 118d! Unless of course it is sunny and then the bike may have to come instead.

Hello All

I will likely travel down early on the Sunday morning, starting off from J20 on the M6. Is anybody else travelling down on the day?

Perhaps we could meet up?,

I guess its quite hard to get all the cars togeather on the day ?

It is my intention to have a Z display at Gaydon.
What I dont know is whether you have to to a BMWCC member to be on it or not.

Phil: Can't see it now, but I am sure I posted on this thread quite soon after you put it up (we spoke about it on the Cat & Fiddle run) to say that I hoped to be at Gaydon, but couldn't be certain until nearer the time because of a family commitment.

It now looks as if I will definitely be able to make it, and I was wondering the same as Dav.

I had never looked on my Zed as being particularly concours, but at the Harewood House meet the other Sunday I was persuaded to enter. Would you like me to be on the Zed stand, or just in the main parking area? If the latter, will there be a separate section for Zeds?

Talking of the Cat & Fiddle, I will be off out in the Zed in a couple of minutes to meet up with some friends from Cheshire there for lunch.

I am still looking for Zs for the display. However to be on the display you have to be a car club member, obtain a display pass from the club office and be there fairly early.
As of today there are only 3 passes issued.
Anyone can attend the event but only members can display.
There is a separate show and shine event which i believe non club members can enter and that might give the opportunity of being displayed.

That's all done, Phil. I spoke to the office this morning, and they are sending me my £8 admission ticket plus a display pass. We have to be there by 7.30am, by the way.

It's a blooming good job I rang the office, not only to enquire about the above, but also to ask them why I hadn't received my July magazine and why I was unable to post on the club forum.

Despite the fact that I paid my current subscription by debit card on 25th July 2007 (went through my bank account on the 26th), and despite the fact that my membership card clear says that I am a member until July 2008, I was told that my membership had been lapsed because I had not renewed it!!! The lady said they had sent out reminders in May, but I certainly didn't receive it. Even so, it is highly questionable whether my membership had in fact legally expired when it was a case of the club apparently moving the goalposts and deciding that all renewals should be by the end of the previous month (a bit like car tax). In the past, I've always paid on the anniversary of my first joining, and there has been no break in the magazine being received.

When a lot of people are questioning whether it is really worth coughing up £40 to be a member of the club, when we have this forum to exchange news and views, this sort of treatment is surely going to put a lot of people off. However, for the record, I have "rejoined" for another year.

PS: Having dug out the paperwork, I see that the smallprint I received when I first joined says that renewals are due on the 1st of the month in which you joined, so I have to admit that, strictly speaking, they may have been correct. I still think it's a bit heavy handed of them, however, especially as my card says "Vaild until 7/2008." I couldn't even get into the member's area of the club website to renew online. How daft is that?

Check this link, from tomorrow. It is the nearest Met Office weather station to the Heritage Centre postcode...

...however, whatever it says tomorrow, or Thursday, Friday, etc, it will be different for Sunday!

Dee,
Unfortunately I'm not a member of the BMWCC so I don't see much point in coming all the way up I in Rodney just to stick him in the car park.
I will be there though and Russ is coming down from up North so we will be coming to to see you as usual.

Sorry I didn't manage to hook up with you, Mark - I did look for you in the car park before I left. :(

Was lovely to meet/re-meet some fellow zedders. A big hi to Dee (Roadmonster), Graham (100GRA), Nero, Dav, Russ, Robin, and everyone else. :D

A special Hi to the owners of the purpley blue zed with the hardtop - it was me that waved to you on the M6. :)

More of a Lo to the owner of the red Z4MC who refused to even look at me on the M42. :(

Anyway, onto the customary pics. I need to do a bit of editing on some of the others, so here is a little taster.

Sorry....didn't make it today.
I got distracted by Stella, a reasonably late night and a very big breakfast.
I blame Bloke.
By the time that was all over, it wasn't worth starting out to Gaydon. :(

Hope you all had a good day.
