Food confirmations!
I will need food confirmations by Wednesday the 21st. I will nag again next week, as I start to get in touch with my feminine side again!Bloke wrote:Are we in any need to confirm food yet, or not?
I am still sorting out the guest, when do you need definitive confirmation?

Will try
Hi spokey,
Enjoyed the last one so much that will do my best - supposed to be going to Hickstead but driving's so much more fun than horses! Best of both worlds if the missus spends the day at showjumping and I spend it driving!
Back to you within 2 days..
Dave

Final Update
The pub will be open from 11:30 for us, but please note that they are not licensed to sell alcohol before noon. Having said that, I'd be fairly worried if anyone needed a drink before we even start
They will start serving the first course at noon sharp, so please make sure you're there by then.
I've driven the route (or parts of it) several times, and I now realise that some stretches are not rewarding, either from a driver's or an aesthetic perspective. Please bear with me, I had to link the fun bits together somehow.
Plus, you'll definitely need some time to recover between the state of Cambridgeshire roads and some of the corners.
Also, I've been checking the weather, and I've obviously done something nasty to the weather gods, as the forecast is partly cloudy for the whole day (perfect driving weather), except for the duration of the run, when there will be showers all the way!
So if any of you have any special clout with whoever arranges the weather, I'd be most grateful...
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Your sister was screaming about your driving, mate! Mine was just fine, according to Michelle. (Although she did gracefully disappear back to her dad's car, I noticed!)
Sounds like Garry has been converted, too!
Thanks to all who came, I hope it was as good for you as it was for me!

Excellent work Spokey
Many thanks for an excellent organisation, it was great to put some more faces to names of cruize virgins.
endorse Giles comments, did not initially realise it was indeed one of the faster cruizes I had been on, but it was only the second cruize with my new 3.0 baby and hence the reason why it got unnoticed initially maybe.
200 miles later, 21.9 MPG! got home in time for Top Gear Gear, what else can you want!
Bring on the next one mate!

A grand day out!
Thanks Spokey!
Another grand day out.
Never pushed the Zed that hard continuously for so long before!
Mentally and physically pretty tiring, especially in my 'compromised' state!
But.....
HUGE fun.
Thanks again.
Cheers!
Alfie.

Bunch of Hunts I: Redux
First off: I still can't append pix to this thread!
We met at the pub as arranged, apart from someone who shall remain nameless, but could be known as Alfie, who was very late due to a hangover or something.
Tim surprised a few of us by arriving in an oddly Olivin-looking Zmurf, that had obviously been previously driven by that chap who rearranged his Hindustan into a Peugeot 206, because it looked just like a Z4.
I have to say, the colour combination is gorgeous, and I was drooling gently as soon as I saw it.
It was raining gently through the meal, but by the time we got outside, it was only spitting. Or was that Bloke in the car behind? I found the food to be excellent, but the service was ... well, I kept expecting to see Basil Fawlty poke his head round the door.
Eventually, we managed to escape, and the first stretch was well scary, due to the slippery roads. I had the pleasure of Delboy's daughter Michelle for company, and managed to scare her to death when I turned on the radio and said: "I'm sorry, but I just bought this CD and I really have to listen to it." I think she might have been expecting opera or country music...
We all made it to Flag Fen intact, where we all made copious donations to the fen's recycling system.
We headed off to Crowland, ostensibly to see the 1000-year-old Trinity Bridge, but when we noticed the Chavs hanging out by the bridge, discretion became the better part of valour and nobody strayed more than a couple of feet from their cars, just to be on the safe side!
After that came a challenging drive to the Holme Fen, apparently the lowest point in the UK. Tim provided the intellectual content for the day, but we all scarpered straight back to our cars in case he wanted to go off on a walk as well. It was at this point that I won the "Dickhead wheelspin of the day" award and smacked the Z1 into a kerb. No evident damage done, but my ego was crushed.
We next headed to Kimbolton. I reckon this was the best part of the drive, myself, but my kidneys were taking serious strain by the time we reached Grafham Water. After Grafham, we pootled over the leap of faith Beltons Hill ... did anyone else get airborne?
This was followed by a gentle amble back to Grafham and thence to Brampton on a very scary single track road, where I saw the whites of Bart's eyes in my rear view mirror when we unexpectedly met someone coming the other way. "The smell of fear" and "adrenaline is brown" were two phrases that came to mind. But we all survived, and rounded the trip off with a lovely cruise down to St Neots, where we discovered that the parking place I'd chosen was "Barry Central", and all manner of "young man" was there with his tastefully improved Corsa or Saxo. They were very generous in providing us with free music and overloud exhausts.
I'm very impressed that I managed not to lose anyone, and a big thank you to all who came. I promise that my next cruise will have prettier places to take photos, but this one was all about the driving, and I don't think there can be too many grumbles about that...?
I reckon a pretty good time was had by all, with the exception of John, who at the time of writing, is still stuck in the pub, waiting for his dessert.
I will definitely run it again, so you all have time to start planning your excuses!

Plenty of cheap knock-offs about, I'm guessing. But hell, yes, please don't buy one -- you would only wind up with a photo of "Porsche-driving chav scum" on the website...garyw wrote:Oh, the worrying thing is on the first link gave it shows a Burberry Cap, now these are £50 odd , so not your usual Chav purchase , and I have been looking at getting one for various reasons. but I will have to rethink my purchase through again

Spokey,
Sorry for the delay in posting a great big thank you for an excellent day out last Sunday; Michelle is still smiling and eagerly wants to go on more cruises! She had a wicked time with you and says not to worry about your choice of music! Apparently, it's better than mine!!! Any way, thanks again for my fastest cruise - 39 mph average! Oh and 20.9 mpg!! Hurrah. Here's to the next one. Also, it was great to meet new faces and reacquaint with old ones - no, that's not a dig at anyone!

Perhaps that's because Z cruises are not such a good idea for a first date?

Gary
Burberry now officially confirmed they will stop production : a worker at Burberry's Castleford factory saying it was because of the association with hooliganism.
Last year, a gang calling themselves the "Burberry Boys" attacked a coach of Turkish fans at the England-Turkey match in Sunderland
Mmm you got something to confess Gary?
wear this cap instead

Well, I didn't get the Burberry cap , but another designer type, which i now find has the same reputation.
But hey mines an original not a copy..
I then read an article in my local paper (and heard it on the news) that a cetain Pub chain in the area has banned said items from their venues, whilst the clothing may indicate some sort of culture, the genuine items are costly bits of wear.
So banning the items seems a bit stupid.. they thats life I suppose
