Sep 18-19 (Sat/Sun): North Wales weekend
Was the Lakes not enough? How about a weekend in North Wales?
Spurred on by the success of the Lakes, z4um members are organising a weekend in mid September incorporating convoys on Saturday from various areas to the overall meeting point near Shewsbury, then a group drive to the overnight accommodation in Snowdonia National Park. On Sunday there will be a dawn raid followed after breakfast by a group run. You can find more information here: http://www.z4um.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3812

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?
It's great to see such a high level of interest in the inaugural Z4UM meet. It's shaping up to be a cracking event with Z cars of all origins (plus a few others! )
I know of few of you have expressed your interest already, but we would like to compile a list of attendees and their details. This will allow us to better organise the event and make it more enjoyable for everyone!
Doesn't matter if your tentative or confirmed, could you please supply the following information:
Name - The drivers name
Passengers name - If applicable
On line name - Your on-line forum ID
Home Forum - Your home forum. e.g. Z4UM, ZRoadster etc
Mobile - Contact number such as your mobile number
e-mail - Your email address
Car - What car you will be driving. e.g. Z4 3.0L, Z3M etc
Colour - Blue, green, polka dot
Registration Plate -
Start Point - Where are you starting from - helps others in your area organise a convoy.
Hotel - The hotel / B+B your staying at (if you've booked it yet)
Please send these details to z4um.meet@easy.com where we will collate them in a nice funky Excel spreadsheet.
At a later date will send out a subset of the data to attendees so that you can organise local convoys or start getting to know each other.
If you've got any questions, just e-mail the address above!
Looking forward to seeing you all in Wales.

Mmm cant make it though
family on visit that weekend
as I dont have a Mondeo like Robin, I would not be able to bring them along so we're gonna have this one a miss
Anyhow, at least it means that Yorkshire cruize is not going to be scheduled in the same weekend, which is a sigh of relief in itself, as Stu considered that weekend I think for a while!

North Wales
is the worst area in Britain for feds.
They have zillions of mobile cameras, helicopters (yes really) and a very 'safety conscious' chief of police.

Hotel Accommodation Update
Hi All!
The Quality Hotel Snowdonia is totally booked up now however, I've found a couple more local hotels with single, double and twin rooms available. Padarn Lake is one of the closest (a couple of people are already booked in there) and Lakeview is under a mile away, both were really helpful! All prices are B&B and you can still book to have dinner at the Snowdonia with the rest of the group!
This is a map to show you where these hotels are in relation to the Snowdonia...

Good morning!!
Just got back from the Wales pre-run and what a run it was!! If next Saturday is anything like yesterday, the roads will be reasonbly clear (apart from some traffic in Llanfyllin and Harlech where we found a convoy of amazing vintage trucks going in the opposite direction!).
The drive from Shrewsbury to Bala Lake quickly turns to country roads and passes through several villages, all decent sized roads which will turn turn into a lot of twisties once we leave Bala to head for Llanberis. The countryside is utterly beautiful and the Llanberis pass is the most unbelievably rugged scenery I've ever seen.
Weather was pretty good, it was raining once we got to Snowdonia as expected but the roads were still good, plenty of sheep spotting opportunities! Sadly, not too many safe spots to stop a group of a dozen cars but given the lack of traffic I think we'll be ok to pull up here and there We had concerns about keeping groups together but the route is pretty straightforward so it'll be quite hard for anyone to get lost!
We stopped at the pub we're going to have lunch at which looks fab, plenty of parking there too and we stopped off at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel so we could make the most of the view (see pic).
This is the first time I've been to North Wales and it's unmissable as far as I'm concerned. <edited for reasons of interforum lurve and co-operation >
Please bear in mind that whilst there are lots of people working their nuts off behind the scenes to make this is a good event for everyone coming it's also our first event, so we will undoubtedly make the odd mistake. I need to say a big thanks to Giles who has helped enormously and to Tim who has given me lots of info.
So, if you are joining us - we can't wait to see you, bring scarves and umbrellas for the Bala Lake stop, it was chuffing windy there!!

Good morning from a Z1
Hi miss m, I have been watching this date with interest as I knew I couldn't make Gaydon, The Lakes or Tatton park so I have this pencilled in. Due to family commitments it will be either day but not both. I live about 60 miles from the area and know the route well. its great. As usual you're at the mercy of the gods weather wise but who cares!!! Another Z1 friend Chris MAY come also!! My phone network T mobile has signal problems around that area as some of it is pretty remote. It's worth bearing this in mind. Do you know where youll be first thing Sunday?
Regards Nik

Miss M, looking forward to this trip, but the weather does make a big difference, especially to a roadster and crew.
Miss M, I did see the postings that you mention and must say it seems that it has been blown totally out of proportion, Someone said what some may be thinking, indeed you hint the same yourself.. but then BANG.
I really wouldn't worry yourself.. everyone who is going knows what to expect, and if the cruise gets lost, hey were in Wales lets enjoy the roads!!

Nik - you're right, mobile phone signal is pretty pathetic, I managed two calls all day!! Last minute arrivals are definitely more than welcome so we'd love to see you if you can make it, on Sunday we'll be at the Quality Hotel Snowdonia in the morning, the driver briefing is planned for 10.45 and we'll be leaving there at 11. If you want to get in touch to let us know you're coming along it might be easiest to phone the hotel and speak to either me or Jules or leave us a message there 01286 870253.
I'll PM you some contact details!
Gary - am really glad you and Jo are coming, keep your fingers crossed for good weather although the mountains looked pretty amazing in the rain! Def a gorgeous place to get lost though!!

All.
Will meet you on the Sunday morning at the Quality In Llanberis for the breifing at 10.45 in my Z3 2.2 Estoril blue. Know the area pretty well as we have a caravan in Porthmadog. As you say some amazing drives , bends , hills etc . The road surfaces are some of the best in the UK, However need to watch the police speed checks which can appear anywhere . Need a car with a detector in the lead. See you then . Do i need to book for lunch .

I am a little confused (easy I know) about the Midlands meeting point.
I have looked at the threads on Z4um and there are quite a few running , is there a definitive answer to meeting points on the saturday in the Birmingham area and what time?
I also see Tim mentioning an alteration to his run, what would that be Tim?
Cheers in advance garyw
