Ultimate BMW Show, Santa Pod, Sunday 20 September 2009

Post by Ian_C »

I'd like to organise a zroadster club stand at this excellent event http://www.bmwshow.co.uk/index.html

I went for the first time last year and it was a real shame not to have a dedicated zed stand. You get the opportunity to see lots of other enthusiast owned BMWs, watch people putting their cars (old and new) through their paces on the drag strip and take yours down it too if you want. I traveled a long way to visit the show last year and wasn't disappointed - it's definitely worth the effort.

I need to get a minimum of 10 people to commit before the organisers will let us have a zroadster dedicated area. If you'd like to be included then please let me know via this thread and I'll coordinate a zroadster stand.

Come on, don't be shy....

Confirmed & paid:
1. myredzed - Red Z3 2.8 roadster
2. ribs - Red Z3 1.9 roadster
3. pimp-master-d - Black Z3 2.8 roadster
4. Wessex - Silver Z3 2.8 roadster
5. skinny's mate - Black ///M Z3 roadster
6. jollyassassin - Sienna Z3 2.0 roadster
7. Chippy - Black ///M Z3 Coupe
8. marknorton - Green Z3 1.9 supercharged roadster
9. shantybeater - Silver ///M Z3 roadster
10. Quick Silver - Silver ///M Z3 roadster
11. roadhog - Black Z3 2.0 roadster
12. roadhog's mate - Blue Z3 2.0 roadster

Interested:

namatjira
roadhog - Black Z3 2.0 roadster
roadhog's mate - Blue Z3 2.0 roadster
skytrucker - Blue Z3 2.2 Sport roadster

I have a baby due (well Sylvia does) 4 days after, so I'm not sure I'd get a pass Ian!

Good luck with this and I'd encourage everyone to go and have a look/go.

I'm just planning on going down for the BMW thing in September - too far to travel to get down there more often

Thanks for interest roadhog; once we get 10 names I'll sort out tickets etc.

I got the wheels off eBay after a very long wait. Not sure that you can get them new anymore (even if you could they'd be hugely expensive). I traveled a long way to pick them up but it was definitely worth it :D

For the BMW show, will your mate be bringing a zed as well?

I was looking for 'AC Schnitzer' - the wheels I got were the best I'd seen in ages. Couldn't resist once I'd seen hi-res pics of them.

It costs £12 to buy the tickets in advance. As soon as we have a confirmed 10 I'll ask you all for the ticket money so that I can register zroadster as a club stand.

If you want to take your zed down the strip then it'll cost you another £25 (this gets you an unlimited number of runs).

No need to feed the missis an excuse - bring her along and buy her an ice cream

He was going anyway, but doesn't know he is going to be on the stand.

That's the spirit :D

Sunday 20th September is the main day for the show (Saturday is for ragging cars down the strip mainly) so your availability is perfect.

Only requirement for the day is a shiny zed (and sunshine if you can bring some  ) As soon as we get a 10th zed registered on this thread I'll be pm'ing folks for ticket money and then i can get zroadster registered with the organisers.

Only one more required then.......

Am I able to confirm a week or so in advance, turn up, pay on entry and still roll on to the Z3 show area? I.e. do I need to pay in advance to show?

I have to confirm numbers by 11 September so that they can get the stand passes out to me. There would be no problem with me handing you a pass on the day although obviously I'd need you to confirm by 11 Sep. I'll put you down as interested for now.

I'll be contacting all those confirmed by pm soon for payment.

-UPDATE-

I've sent pm's out to all of those who have said they'll attend requesting payment in advance so that we can book our zroadster stand with the organisers.

I should clarify that the payment amount of £13 is PER PERSON and not per car as I stated in my pm

£13 covers the £12 per person entry fee, registration fee, PayPal fees and postage to get the zroadster stand passes to you. If there's anything left over after this it'll be donated to the zroadster fund used to keep the site up and running.

Can I request that you all pay promptly as I'd like to get this booked asap and we have to submit full payment when we book.

Yes, provided of course that Thorney have given it a clean bill of health. Sorted a number of intermittent problems but now trying to sort out some mapping issues :(

Just to let you all know that I've received payment for 5 zeds so far (6 if you include mine). We need all 10 cars paid for to ensure that we get a dedicated zroadster stand. Can I ask all those that have confirmed and not yet sent payment to get something to me asap please (or at least let me know that you're no longer interested).

All

Be assured that I really want this meet to happen. In the event that we don't get 10 zeds paid for in advance, I will endeavour to get us in with another BMW club stand and have a separate z roadster area within it. I am pursuing this towards the end of this week and in any event will make a decision by the end of next week i.e. by 5 Sep 09.

Keep your eye on the thread for updates.
