July 17th Sat - Roadster Meet - The Trossachs, Inveraray...

Post by Jules75 »

Hello all,

Anyone up for meet next month?

Provisional route would be starting from Glasgow, heading upto Doune and Callander. From there, across to Crianlarich, Inverary and back to Glasgow. It's approximately 175 miles and driving time is estimated at 4.5 hrs.

Highlights include, The Trossachs, Kilchurn Castle, a pub lunch at Inverary and Loch Lomond.

Anyone interested? Suggested dates are Sat 17th July or Sat 24th July.

I'm open to suggestions for route changes of if required date changes (I'm flexible).

Sure thing Jules75, I'd be up for that.

New to the forum so this will be my first meet :D and I've certainly no excuse for not attending as the route practically goes past my house.

Jules - Larri and I would LOVE to do this one, but alas the dates are not good :( (as you can imagine we'd need to make more than one day's arrangments)

This is an absolutely beautiful part of the world which my Scottish lassi wife knows well.

Have a ball and take loads of pics :P

Stu and Gary, hope to see you there! Will post more details as I get an idea of dates. I take it either date suits?

Giles, hope you can make it for the next one. I'll probably organise a bigger one, after I've got some experience with this one. The are hundreds of miles of great roads in Scotland to be driven! :D

Gutted that we won't be able to come and play - you're cruising around my old neck of the woods and the roads / scenery ...well everything is just brilliant up there.

We will definitely be up there at some point this year - I need to visit my dear old Dad on Bute, so maybe we can arrange something later???

Ignoring some of the heated debates that have gone on today, I would just like to say that all members of the Z family are welcome of this run. I will abuse you all equally! (Only joking  )

We've got 8 cars so far I think. It's around a 50 / 50 split of Z4 and Z3s. WE also have a BMW coupe and a Boxster. A truly universal event! 8-)

Things might pick up if she takes the keys tho.. :|

Not sure on numbers... maybe Jules knows.. :?:

For anyone interested, the first stop of new BMW 1 series 'roadshow' is in Glasgow. The car is being shown in George Square from 15th - 18th.

Might be a good opportunity to go for a look after the run.

Pleasure to meet everyone from the Z 'fold', and great route as well Jules, top-marks !!

Bit of a shame the weather was so crap earlier in the run, but appreciated it even more when if improved later on!

Best wishes to Nero for a speedy recovery, and hopefully the problem with MBlur's car isnt serious.

Cheers, ....until next time

I was really looking forward to the day :)

Apologies for having to leave you, but I was in excruciating pain - turned out I was passing a kidney stone. I was ok last night when I spoke to Jules, but now the painkillers have worn off I'm a bit sore again :(

It wasn't all bad, John F gave me a lift back to Doune (in the Z8) to collect my car. Thanks John :D

As my son says "Sh#t happens". I've missed this one, perhaps we can organize another meet - maybe when the weather is a bit better :)

I have attached a few of the pics I managed to take

Thanks to those who travelled up from England to support the meet :)

Nice to meet everyone, and put faces to names.
Was a real pity about the weather, but not to out of the ordinary for Scotland :(

:D Nothing serious guys.. just moisture had gotten into number 6 cylinder under the coil, which was making it mis-fire.. alittle disconcerting up the Duke's.. looks like it had been there since I washed down the engine bay (a little too rigorously it seems) a couple of weeks back and of course the 6 lists front to back.. . The Carbon spark cover then prevented heat from dissipating any excess moisture and the cover doesn't have the same seal as the original..

M 8LUR running on all cylinders again... a quick fix but I didn't want to take the chance up in the hills.. pity I never got to play with any of your boys.. MCoupe... Z3-S.. Zee8.. it'll have to wait until next time.

I may fashion a cover for the bonnet vent for the wetter weather..

BR to all and good to meet you.

I've written my thoughts about the day, along with some pictures over on the Z4UM http://www.z4um.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... sc&start=0

Despite suffering from stress during the early part of the run, I had a fantastic time. 8-)

See you all next time......
