What's the term for a group of Zed's...

Post by trickyb »

So, out today with hood down. Lovely drive through the Pennines, over the A62 into Yorkshire, and i must have seen 7 Zed's...

1/ Silver Z3 with hard top on - scandellous - On very tight road from Slaithwaite to Outlane (they'll know)
2/ Lovely Oxford II Z3 at Ikea, Leeds (need a new kitchen)
3/ Sky blue (but not estoril) Z3 in Halifax
4/ Silver Z3 with soft top up on M62 Westbound nr J24 (was late for a meeting)
5/ Silver Z3 parked by reservoir on A640 towards Rochdale - thought it might have been Robert T, but it wasn't.

I lost count and the decription of the others. Great driving day, though. 8-)

It got me thinking, what's a group of Zed's going to be called? Or a group of any cars for that fact - a trafficjam of Zed's sprang to mind, or a Carpark of Zed's, but they didn't really fit. Murder, Mischief and Charm are already taken.

http://www.rinkworks.com/words/collective.shtml

So - ideas for a name to describe a gathering/group of Zed's is needed, and if the term's used enough, we should try getting it into Collins Dictionary...

If it was, then my zed would have to have been out and about on its own!

How about a cruize of zeds, or even a rabble of roadsters?

So far, i have to say the "CLUTCH of ZEDs" is a winner.
I spent most of my money on whisky, women and Z3's. The rest I just wasted.

Oxford - you've got far too much time on your hands.

I wish. Flat out here. Going for smoke break at 11. Can't wait.

So what do we think about a zeal of Zeds?

They do fill us with fervor, ardour, intense passion and enthusiasm. Don't they? :D

Here's one that was mentioned some time ago....

A Flashmob of Zeds.

Here's a description I found:

A Flash Mob is a seemingly unplanned gathering of a group of people that congregate in a public place for a brief period of time. All members of a Flash Mob simultaneously converge to form the mob, perform the predetermined act, and then quickly disperse again at a given time, all members departing in different directions.

Sounds remarkably like a Spokey crooze to me!

Someone set up a poll so we can finalise this once and for all.

Poll setting confuses me. :puzzle:

Due to the design of a Zed apparently resembling a shark, there can only be one answer to this question. A group of sharks is called a shiver.

So how does a SHIVER of Zeds sound.

What do you think ?

Good one Paul! I was trying to think hard about what the collective term for sharks was and you got there first. My Zed looks very like a shark being silver. :D

Thats fine if your Zed is silver but if it's a diff colour doesn't quite fit to my mind. IMO of course

Point taken. As a compromise, how about a QUIVER of Zed's. Seems to fit for some reason.

Paul.
