Yet another newbie! (from N Yorks)
Hello all,
My name is Tim, from York. I picked up my 2003 Z4 Roadster 3.0i SE on Monday. Absolutely love the car but cursing the weather, still, even light rain is acceptable weather to have the roof down, right?!!
Waiting to give her a good clean before taking any photos but will get some on here soon.
Looking forward to picking your brains with endless questions over the next few years.
Tim.

Isn't it strange how men see their cars as females and females see their cars as males.... or is someone going to prove me wrong on that ??

Something to do with the amount of trouble they cause you I think, and the cost!Snoops wrote:

Hi Tim
Welcome to another silver Z on the forum (aka madhouse as you can no doubt tell )
There's getting quite a collection around York now.

Yeah, not actually sure that I've got the right colour on my profile, was described as "steel grey" but that is not an option for Z4 on the forum. Wouldn't really call it silver, it's that dark metalic grey/graphite type colour that you see around quite a lot, guess I'll find the name and correct my profile at some point!Titan wrote:Hi Tim

Thanks for the welcome.
473 Sterling Grey is a standard BMW colour and is more "silver" than red or blue or green etc.shoegazer wrote:not actually sure that I've got the right colour on my profile, was described as "steel grey"
I don't know where the Z4 is plated - on the Z3 the colour ID plate is on the front n/s suspension turret.
I'm sure one of the other Z4 owners can be more specific - Zed Carer has one of each and may reply.
Sorry - my grammar was slightly misleading - I meant other Zs in York - not specifically silver ones.shoegazer wrote:Have checked paperwork and it is sterling grey, as you say, deffo not green, blue etc so we'll call it silver just to fit in with the York crowd!
Thanks - it's officially Dot's car except when dirty (after she's driven it) or needs fuel (after she's driven it)Guess I just meant it's not pure "bright" silver like yours, which may I say: looks fantastically bright, nice motor!

I did find the torch - complete with dodgy batteries and went to have a look - there are two plates, one on the inside of each wing at the rear of the engine bay. The nearside one shows the build date and the offside one shows the VIN and kerb weights plus some bits that I couldn't make out (because of where it is positioned you end leaning over and having to read it upside down) but couldn't see anything obvious - mind you the torch could do with some new batteries and I didn't have my glasses on
Will try and remember to look in daylight - assuming that it has stopped raining by then.
Not quite true and I did pass on your request to the Z4 owner to find the torch and go out in the rain to satisfy your curiosity and I think that you can guess what the reply was 'I'm sure one of the other Z4 owners can be more specific - Zed Carer has one of each and may reply.

Damn, is it dark already!? guess I'll find out at 10pm when I get out of this office with no windows!Zed Carer wrote:Titan wroteNot quite true and I did pass on your request to the Z4 owner to find the torch and go out in the rain to satisfy your curiosity and I think that you can guess what the reply was 'I'm sure one of the other Z4 owners can be more specific - Zed Carer has one of each and may reply.

There are getting quite a few of you over in white rose country - we should arrange a meet on the border after all the summer holidays are over.

Hey Tim!
Welcome to another Yorkie! (I'm ex-Terrington, now down in the city at Heworth)
Sadly I have only managed about 3 days out so far this year due to the lousy weather and my lack of time mainly, but maybe we shall get an Indian Summer in the autumn, so we can all head out over the Howardian Hills and the North Yorkshire moors?
Hope you get and much enjoyment form yours as I do from mine in the good weather!
Rich.
