Another Newbie from Lancashire.

Post by ARoosterinaRoadster »

Hi to you all out there. Yes another one!!!!!!!!!!! albeit I am from the West Lancashire area and more specifically Bescar,Scarisbrick.
I found this forum after a recommendation from a member of another BMW forum but not a 'Z' specific one.
My little piece of utter delight is a Topaz Blue Metallic Z3 on a 2000(W) plate with a black hood and chrome front wing grills/vents.
Happiness is a well kept Z3 and preferably running with the hood down - weather permitting.

Hi Dave and thank you for your reply. Growing old is only a number but I am already nearly at 69 (September). My next challenge is getting the medical OK when number 70 arrives.
One of my daughters used to refer to my 97 Volvo V70 T5 CD Auto as an old man's shopping car - until she had a loan of it for a fortnight after her Mitsubishi Shogun suffered massive internal engine damage.
She doesn't/didn't know that I have the Z3 but I can pre-empt what is likely to be coming.

Hi Davejue1. I think she has got a better chance of being a passenger when she eventually gets her head out from the back of her denims and realises that although she is an adult she still needs to control the mouthy I know better than you view of life.
Like they say. You can pick your friends but family is a different perspective.

Hi 692DPG. Thank you. Yes, a nice part of the Lancashire coast line. I often used to go St Annes and Thornton-Cleveleys and onto Fleetwood to the model boating lake, there were some impressive models of all types on the lake at times.
There used to be a decent cafe near the tram lines and at the start of the shopping area in Fleetwood.

Hi - another relative newbie from near Lytham. I have a silver 2.8 wide body Z3 - bought for fun summer driving. She's 15 years old with 140k miles on the clock but, touch wood, runs well, burns no oil and can still shift.

I envy some of these guys on this fantastic forum who can do a lot of the work themselves but I'm more of a driver than mechanic. Do any of the Lancs guys know a good Z3 friendly garage? I have an incredibly irritating rattle, the cause of which has been identified by another forum member as a clip on the brakes, but I need somebody to sort it out. My local guy fettled it for a while but it's come back! :head:

Hi Thaliman. An interesting handle!!!!!!!!!!! where did it originate from?

In answer to your question - there is a BMW Specialist in Southport albeit a bit far away from Lytham, the business is called Linwar Motors Ltd. They are at 40 - 44 Virginia St,Southport
Tel :- 01704 540047.
The proprietor is Ian Thompson. He is reckoned to be a BMW Guru and has been an independent for a very very long time.
As yet I have not had any work carried out but when my next service schedule comes due that is where it is going.

Thanks for the information - Southport isn't that far if it can rid me of that rattle!

The handle? We like to holiday in Goa and I do rather like Indian food - especially " thalis"

Thanks again!

Hi Thaliman. The handle - Nice One. It is well advised to ring first because an appointment may be necessary. A little word of caution, the entrance is down a long narrow roadway between old Mill Buildings and no room to turn around. I ended up reversing down albeit the front of the premises has more than ample parking.
The business is rather big on BMW reusable parts and consequently there will be a few dotted about that are either being systematically dismantled or just joining the queue.

Update on rattle. Before I bought the car last year, it had been fitted with non BMW rear break pads. These were replaced and problem solved.
Work done by Blackpool Motor Works (BMW - geddit?) in Lytham - BMW and Mini specialists.

Hi Thaliman. Now that is an easy one to remember - isn't it just!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is also just outside of a lovely town with some nice places to eat whilst whiling away the day and close enough to Blackpool for a quick look around.
