I have some proper whiskey
a very nice 21 year old royal salute
and in the poor days its highland park 15 year old
and if I am after a peaty night . its got to be LAPHROAIG Cask Strength 55.3%
I cant drink anything less that 12 years old ...
and I am rather good at identifying (not cheap blends ) by taste alone
the most I have paid for a good bottle was £375 (and that was a pure bargain some of them sold for over £1000 a bottle ) for a lovely 50 year old from one of the local distillery's near me (3 within 5 miles of me )

Re: Festivitiness
Does anybody know if the wine from Aldi tastes any better if you leave it for a number of years? At £3.49 a bottle, I'm wondering if it could be an investment,a sort of Pension Fund. Please advise???
Re: Festivitiness
a good one left to mature in the barrel for 50 years will be lovely really lovely . once its in the bottle it stops maturing . so its the age it left the barrel ,not the age of the bottle after its filled.Zedonist wrote:Could it be, that if anything is 50yrs old, it's because it was that bad it got left to one side while the good stuff was drunk
