My embarrasing start to Z ownership

Post by ZedMatt »

Here are a couple of pics of the slightly neglected beauty.

The spec is Topaz blue with matching leather, CD, chrome pack. Can you guess what's under the hood? :)

Will be getting lots of TLC over the next few weeks ready for some thrilling top down action over the summer... and then some. 8-)

well its deff not a 1.8 as it has fogs

on a V reg , with fogs in topaz blue i would say either a 2.2 or a 2.8

HINT: It's the alloys that give it away.

Two exhausts, so I'd say 6 pot.

Being facelift and not having crome kidney grills I'd say not 2.8.

2.2 or 2.0. V Reg - I think - is 1999 isn't it? - so not 2.2

My guess is 2.0

2.0 indeed

Well deduced. I didn't realise the 2.8 had chrome kidneys :nerd: I've, so far, used alloys as my spotting method for standard Z's. That loses its accuracy around here though, not many running about on standard shoes.

Alloys aren't the best way of spotting different Zed variants. You need to look for the more subtle differences. Chrome tailpipes and kidney grills are a BIG clue

And then a cheeky monkey like me has chrome grills on his '97 fourpot, with a chrome tailpipe.

2.0 Exactly the same as mine bar the mileage and I've got the chrome pack.

Twin Pipes, fogs + alloys are what make it a 2.0 I think the 2.2s have the 2 piece or same style but one piece alloys.

My kidney grills wouldn't help you, as they're the chrome ones (which look really good with the rest of the chrome pack) as Hexagon of Highgate fitted the wrong ones when they replaced my bonnet :) No complaints from me! Piccie in my sig is pre-mashing up the bonnet of course...

My 2.0 has chrome kidneys, so maybe that can't be used in deducing the type of engine? Lovely Z from what i have seen, and the 2.0 engine hardly ever gets any problems. Any plans to bring it to some of the meetings being organised this year?

Well, all cleaned and raring to go. Went out for a drive last night and a few runs today. I was hoping to take some photos, but the weather's turned on me. :head:

Might take some anyway and post "wet look" pics.
