Did a few more bits to the Z today

Post by dpbayly »

My £15 Taiwan spoiler arrived yesterday, only took 4 days to arrive from Taiwan was really suprised. I originally wanted the standard BMW Aerodynamics kit spoiler but BMW no longer have it in production so opted for the little lip spoiler here's it fitted:

Something else i did was to fit the custom wheel spacers to the rear because since lowering the neg camber made the top of the wheel sink right into thre arch so had my brother inlaw (who owns an engineering company) knock me up some 23mm spacers from some solid aluminium and brought some longer bolts and fitted them:

And while the wheels were off thought i would paint the rusty disc hubs black and calipiers red:

Thanks Tim.

It wasn't that one thats a bit steep £87 even if it is painted, it is such a small item painting it yourself is simple i use etching primer then flated it with 1200 wet n dry smooth before spraying colour and lacquering then when paint hardens off flating with 2000 wet n dry and polishing with T cut came up great.

It was this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

and the quailty is top notch perfect fit, comes with the 3M tape stuck to the back ready to fit, its very flexable so easy to make it sit right and follow the contours of the boot definatly worth getting in my opinion.

might just do that do they do replicas or only originals.

Had another little play last night i removed the side grills to paint the mesh to make it pop out a bit had a can of silver spray in the shed so removed them stripped them down pre cleaned them to remove any wax products then popped to the shed to get the spray only to find for some reason i had put back an empty can of silver back on the shelf :head: so thought there apart now so what can i do so grabbed the caliper paint i had left and gave that a go so they match the calipers, thought if i dont like it i can buy some silver and redo it, whats peoples opinions.

Yep I like the red gills, suit your car well

I've also got one of those spoilers, I thought for £15 it was worth it and as you say great VFM. I just havn't decided/got round to fitting or not.

Re the ///M mirros I think there are only 2 options, second hand off an ///M or the BMW retrofit kit.

They are pretty expensive from BMW but a guy in Germany was selling a job lot of the OEM RHD retrofit kits a few months ago and they went on average between £150 and £200. Seems to have ran out now though.
