+1 - and for once a unique mod! Looking good! :thumb:

If you don't mind me saying, I think you are in need of some rear spacers to push the rear wheels a little.

I like the idea of the roof cover in the last pic. It looks easier than putting an old sheet over on frosty nights.

Do you have a link to where you bought it from?

How have you found the inlet manifold mod??? I had a go in nobbynom8s 2.8 with this on + a induction kit & remap. 240 bhp and it was amazing!!!
I look forward to getting my swapped with the E46 3.0l manifold as I have the M52TU lump.

Keep up the good work,

Im looking forward to some eibach springs at xmas and id love some M/mirrors.... which i understand you have done, i think they make a big differents 8-)

240bhp you say!? wow i thought only 230 was achevable... Mine hasnt been remaped... yet. But as it is its freed up the top end and seems quicker when you get past 3.5k rpm
Youve got me all excited again now! Cant wait to get it mapped but it will have to wait till next year when ive saved some pennys....

Zed got an early xmas treat today, Transmission and Diff oil change

Transmission and diff oil brought from BMW
Oil suringe from Screwfix - great tool for £7!

Image

Local garage carried out the work as i didnt fancy getting on my back and oil everywhere!

Image

Image

The differents from the gearchange is great, smoother gearshift and not a whisper from the diff!

I would recomend to do this if your zed is high`ish mileage, mines on 101k and its made a good improvement. :thumb:

Taken off sale... for now.

Post by Z3cade »

I have now decided not to sell my zed right now.
I have decided to complete my zed to a perfect standard and sell it as a complete package later in the year then look for an M//.

So the car has had a few more treats already and has more lined up in the next couple of months! 8-)

So far...

The zed has had the common boot floor spot welds repaired!
Five had poped and now they have been counter sunk, Mig welded then primed....
Much stronger than the original spot welds!
The rear cross member/floor was checked and now soild as a rock.
Was carried out at `Bridge Enginernering` in Peterborough today!!

Image
Image
Image

I have also picked up a complete set of new shock absorbers, front and rear also rear top mounts!!!!
SACH Super Touring GAS shocks, much better that the original OIL filled shocks 8-)

Image
Image

I plan to get all these fitted shortly....

Im also going to get the zed booked in for a custom remap so i can get the full benifit from the M54 inlet manifold!!! :D Hoping 230-240bhp

I`ll post up the Dyno print out with figures once ive had this done...
Hopefully in the next month or so....

I`ll also be ordering some 15mm spacers to finish off the stance of the rear wheels.....

Couple of recent pics of engine bay clean and 30mm lowered stance 8-)

Image
Image

I cant wait to get zeddy all done and use it on some runs this year!!
If i can source a nice pair of sport seats i think i`ll fit a set and then i can say zeddys finished... 8-)

Happy Zedding people!!!!! :drive

Rear shocks fitted today!

Post by Z3cade »

Managed to get the rear shocks fitted today - Very easy job i would recomend doing these yourself as it only took me about an hour!!

And WOW  What a differents....... The car no longer bottoms out at the rear over big bumps and its stiffened the rear up a treat, so much more feel at a the rear with no sagyness.... :D Worth doing if your rear feels alittle soft and saggy....
Cant wait to get the fronts on now!!! i think its going to transform the car

Few pics....

Image

Old and new shock

Rebuilt rear shock with new top mount

Drivers side done!

Z3cade,

That Z3 of yours now looks fantastic, I agree with you the seat mod is 100% and really transforms the whole car.

Mine is also in Topaz and I think yours shows just how good these cars look in that colour. :thumb:

I'm looking forward to going to some meets this year so might see you there. Will be hoping to get out to Germany for a long weekender later in the year so really looking to make the most of owning a roadster again. The weather has been great where I live over the last week so the roof has been down in the sunshine, long may it continue. :)

Cheers

Thanks for all the coments guys ;-)

Its getting to where i want it now and havent much else on the to do list.... the seats have really finished it off in my eyes and it honestly feels like a different car to drive with the new shocks, springs and hugging seats....

Z3topaz22 yes you also have the best colour zed ;-) and i hope you can get to some meets this year where we can meet up... more topaz the better!

shantybeater all i did with the rubber handle seals was replace them with new ones from bmw.. had to buy the handle surrounds also as you cant buy the seals on there own.

happy zedding guys.... summers on its way ;-)

I just bought a MEX-BT3800 unit which looks pretty much the same. Only downside I found is that there is a white semi circular light around the button but that is really bright at night. Is yours the same?

Other wise, its a great unit and so much better than the OEM unit.

I also bought a black USB lead for my iPhone which doesn't stand out as much.
