Got the intercooler there but will have to see what room I've got when it's mounted.

Got the intercooler mounted. What's peoples thoughts on the cold air feed placement? It's about the only place possible.

Can you not feed off the rectangular slot in the bumper just left / below of where you are indicating ?

Possibly but need to get the cooler pipe work on first as it will be coming up behind the headlight. Just thought the inlet would look good there maybe painted a different colour. I know a lot of people on here probably don't like this sort of thing

.... Maybe it's too "track / racecar" look... But hey, it's your car, and if you like it, go for it... Maybe have it carbon fiber skinned... vs painted ??
Although, I would want my car to be a "sleeper"... look as OEM as possible, and then scare the crap out of the boy racers when they need a scare... :D

What size inlet have you got there? I pull cold air through the centre of the bumper and duct it back and up behind the radiator using a 4" hose.

Did you fit the brake cooling ducts when you fitted the ///M bumper? If not you could use the brake cooling duct/s as an intake point?

Been away a while, but just read this thread

great amount of work here

I have a concern over your drive to the S/C coming off the power steering pump.
The drive should be direct off the crank, you may find you get :-

A- belt slippage, these blowers can drain circa 30hp from the engine
B- premature wearing of the power steering pump bearings

I would personally re-think the drive and go off the crank

Another thought..
maybe i missed it in the thread

I see you have locked up the electro clutch on the S/C, good idea as they are clunky.
Now this is fixed on the pulley what off boost by-pass are you running ?

Thanks Mark I've looked into other peoples builds of similar spec one ran off the pas pump and another from the water pump so far with a good 10k ish miles no problems to report so will see how it goes. I would have to re route a few bits to run off the crank but it wouldn't be impossible. Also the air will be recirculated back into the intake via a forge valve.

Nothing very exciting but here's the console I've been working on black brushed aluminium vinyl wrap. If anyone has any spare blanks I need two of the larger ones and a new style asc switch with a bit of the loom would be handy?

I love the vinyl! I've been toying with having my Z3M fascias hydrodipped before fitting but am torn on patterns. I've never seen black brushed aluminium but it looks spot on!

Thanks the vinyl is great also has the texture of the grain, just need to do the dash centre now which I think will be a bit more effort.

Looks great daz

Be good to catch up with you at the Just Jane meet at East Kirkby.

I might take you up on the offer of a coffee.

When it comes to the texture of the grain, I love a nice malt!

Mark

Hi Daz

Looking great - another :cheers from me for the black wrap - looks really good. I am thinking about what to cover my M centre console in this year when (assuming) I fianally manage to sort it out - I'm switching out the dash for a black one and making the 2 "dome" pieces blue to match the interior and then carrying that down the hockey sticks etc - as such I will be covering my current Estoril blue colour. - I was thinking about the silver brushed look like I have in my 2.0l, but this black brush alli look you have is very tempting - especially with the M gear surround

Finally got the zed up and running again so here's a little video!

All the pulleys and charger lined up and running well. Radiator in and have a little issue with an airlock but hoping to get that sorted this weekend. Also ordered the final pipe work for the intercooler pipe run so hopefully have a video of it all piped up soon with the recirculating valve working.

I've also modified a set of S2000 seats to fit which I've managed to put the bmw pretensioners on. Also installed another dashboard and got all the interior back in.

Seats look lovely. The engine sounds very non-standard when revved. Do you have to have some final "re-map tune" on a rolling road?

I'm installing a wideband kit to monitor the fuelling as I've got a vortech fuel management unit put in. However I think it will need some sort of mapping to rescale the maf depending how it runs.
