Just bought her home..... Was this a good price?
Just bought her home..... Was this a good price?
Well my dilemma between a 2.8 and a 3.0 is over - finally collected my 3.0 today, just got in in fact
I think I got a pretty good deal: 2001 / 51 plate with just under 71k on the clock. Full service history (BMW dealer apart from the last one) MOT until June 13, tax until Nov 12. Last owner a lady for the last 4 yrs / 35k miles. She bought from a BMW Dealer (Approved Used)
Comes with lots of paperwork, past MOT's, receipts inc the sales docs from the Dealer. Rear tyres are brand new Falkens, front are Dunlops Sport Maxx with loads of tread.
Bad bits: red paintwork has done its thing and lost its...mojo. There are some stone chips poorly covered. Made worse in that they are the proper red (amazing what the difference is) There is some lacquer peeled on the top of the rear wing. Rear screen is a little milky, hood could do with a bloody good clean (but no rips) Drivers bolster has seen better days. Needs a basic service now (last service was inspection 2 a few years ago!)
Now I'm pretty sure all of the above with a bit of TLC can be sorted, I'm thinking with pretty stunning results. And the above is probably why she has had trouble shifting it.
I offered her £3500 last week, she wasn't keen, I said I'd call back today when I had the cash, I did and she said yes Even had a full tank of petrol
So what do you guys think? Good price? Even at the asking price of £4k it was one of the cheapest for sale at the moment, take into account its 71k mileage and it looked like the bargain of the century, then getting another £500 off......
I know red won't be to everyones taste, its not really mine... unless you have a theme I'm planning on going for a complete red and black theme; satin black wheels, satin black front grill, the brushed ally in the centre console colour coded red. Then funds permitting coilovers to lower it a little, improve the stance.
Anyways here are a few pics and a link to the Autotrader ad

Assuming it's mechanically sound, then I'd say you've got yourself a fantastic deal. All those faults are minor and easy to fix, and you've got yourself a 3.0 for £200 more than I paid for my 2.8 18 months ago! Nice choice of colour too

Looks great value at 3.5k. As others have said, all of those niggles are easy fixes. I'd be looking at swapping the mirrors for ///M ones, transforms the look of the car IMO:

Like those, are they a straight forward swap? Also those stone chip guards you have just in front of the rear wheels? Where did you get those from?myredzed wrote:Looks great value at 3.5k. you`re welcome. Have a set myself and they look great and keep the stones away.
Re: Just bought her home..... Was this a good price?
Yep, easy to swap. Directly interchangeable between ///M an non-///M. Just make sure you buy a set for a rhd car.M@r]{ wrote:Like those, are they a straight forward swap? Loving the Hellrot !
Get it lowered and spacers on the rear, will look great!
I know what you mean about stone chips I had loads and the lacquer peels is a pain, but then you can chase around faults all day, I just love driving it!
(photos of before and after stone chips here) x 2 (deer incident!)
