Well, with mobiles.co.uk (Carphone Warehouse) offering £60 quidco I've stuck my neck out and ordered a 32GB.

I run a PC at home (vista) and a macbook pro in the office. My PC has never had an infection and the hardware is hand-picked for quality so has given me very little trouble over the years I've had it. I can't say I've been displeased with it. It still does my head in occasionally, but post-XP, microsoft have actually started producing half-decent OSs. Still hate vista though, installing it was a complete and utter waste of time. XP with Google desktop were much much better.
I got a macbook 9 months ago as I was fed up with all the crap that work obliged us to install on our machines (antivirus, antispyware, anti-everything) plus all the spyware of their own (license checkers, loggers etc), which meant that my machine was constantly crashing, thrashing, overheating and preventing me from doing any real work.
I used to snob Macs and mac users, but I have been very pleased with the mac - fantastic usability from the word go, everything works all the time, incredibly powerful but easy to use built-in apps, i only need to reboot it once every fortnight (if that), rock solid and downright an excellent business tool. Plus it runs windows XP flawlessly under vmware and bootcamp for all my microsoft needs. Oh and it looks mega-cool
So I would say that yes, a PC can give you a very pleasant computing experience but ONLY if you know what you're doing, how to trim all the excess fat and are prepared to put a LOT of effort into building one yourself and doing it right. But as a business tool, the macbook is simply unbeatable - allows me to go about my daily business unhindered and without the need to worry about safety and security of my data. I will never buy a computer for work which is not a mac.
I've ran linux boxes in the past and still do for a server. I find it very good, extremely so in many cases, but it really is NOT for the average user.
On the subject of mobiles (which is my core profession and where I have a PhD), I hate the iPhone's walled garden development model and the fact that it still lacks basic features available for years on other phones. But it looks really pretty and the web browser is second to none. I have always considered SonyEricsson to be the best in terms of their usability and excellent support for Java that gives me freedom to build whatever app I can think of very easily, but Nokia have made great progress in the recent years in their interface and usability, so much so that I bought a 5800 touch screen in February and I'm still using it (actually quite enjoying it too). Granted, not as slick an interface as an iPhone but for £250 sim-free and a £20/month O2 simplicity (1200 texts, 600 mins & unlimited web), I am happy to compromise.
Windows mobile were great for researchers like me when they came out (still remember pocketPC?), and they still are very very good for giving you almost total freedom to develop. As development platforms are much more friendly to the programmer than Symbian. But for the average user... their interface... my god... HTC tried hard with TouchFlo but you still can't get away from the crappy bog-standard windows components for most of the functionality... quite sad...
