Try Ad-Aware http://lavasoft.com/ it's pretty good at clearing unwanted stuff

Ad-aware is great - try AVG 8 Free from free.grisoft.com also.

And reset Internet Explorer 7 (Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Reset - Reset)

Do the ads mention 'CID' in the top left corner by any chance?

try Malwarebytes or Avast! - both of which are excellent programmes and free.. in fact Avast! usually outperforms paid software in benchmark tests..

Use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE7. There is a reason Microsoft employees use Firefox instead of their own program ;)

Go for AVG free! I put this on all of our home workers machines that have serious infections to remove the threat.
