Nope - your eyes are working just fine - please note the license plate - it's Japanese I believe - - maybe the owner had the car converted or ordered it like that - haven't been able to find anything about it...

Rather cool actually - I want one :D

I have to admit, I know its sacrilege, but the thought crossed my mind quite a few times over the years, how to adapt to Londons anti-car campaign, how nice it would be not to have to change gear every 25yards for humps, cameras, lights or 20/30/40 zones. Although I have to accept that lowering the car didnt help. An Autobox would make sense.

No, the suspension still needs sorting, but my dealer keeps failing to get back to me. I think I may have to go elsewhere.

Automatic Gearbox

Post by Bruno »

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your new Topic !! Really !!

Maybe my dream comes true !!

Thanks a lot for all of your informations !!

My dream would be to convert my Z1 with a new DKG gearbox from Z4 35is or 135i with a 6 cyl !!
I don't know if it's possible but your videos give some more hope !!
I'll write some messages to this japonese owner and to this London Company too !!
I hope I'll have more details about this conversion and maybe if it's not possible to swap gearbox (DKG), it could be to fit on another king of gearbox with torque converter from BMW Gr !!

You are amazing !!

I don't believe that London company does conversions - they just have a website that lists engines and manual and automatic transmissions for virtually every BMW variant ever made. Whether or not BMW ever built such a car/transmission combination is a point they don't worry about too much.

Here's a couple of other products they claim to offer than don't actually exist:

http://www.idealengines.co.uk/bmw-z8-au ... n-1104.htm

Note how the text is identical except for the Z3M, Z1 or Z8.

Automatic Conversion

Post by Bruno »

What’s a pity !!

I’m going to continue my investigations with all of your suggestions, also I’m talking about conversion with the Expert Mister Senna !!
I’m very interested to exchange some informations about these Conversions with many persons who know this subject.
This is the only way to have a maximum of informations.

But this Japanese Owner on the YouTube video has well made this Automatic Conversion himself or by a tuner for sure !! :head: :head:
I sent him an email/message and I’m waiting for his answer !!

Also I’ll ask again some questions about Automatic/DKG Conversion to Wiesmann, Kelleners, Dähler, SG MotorSport, and so on….

Bye...
