Z1 Wiki aka ZIKI

Post by Jet »

Its taken a year, but after getting hacked, my non existent html skills, mediawiki upgrade issues, ISP issues, SQL issues, rebuilding the entire library, excessive bandwidth charges, data validation, it is finally in a decent viewing state.
The objective is to create a central location of self help material, mainly dedicated to the biggest area of concern, doors. In the absence of expert input, I cannot guaratee the content is 100% accurate, but being organic, it will improve over time and look better as images are added to support the recommended fixes.

Jamal, Thanks for the heads up in respect of the headlight bulb retaining clips.

Two spares ordered from Porsche at £3 each, not an exact fit but can be modified.

Having located the invoice in the file the item number is 7896 - 993 Headlight Low Beam Bulb Retainer Clip. Available from Type911.

See attached link .... still £3 each

http://type911shop.co.uk/epages/de867ca ... tring=7896

You need the wire retention clip only from the kit. The wire clip on the rear of the bulb holder is under tension and is easily broken and has a habit of flicking into the engine bay or falling onto the engine under tray.

Hi @all,

I'm dragging this old post up again.

Often the hook is bent, so that the spring will not hold in the closed(?) position. If you try to bent this to it's normal position it will break off in most cases.

I just designed a repair part for that problem. It's small hook 3D-printed out of fine stailess steel, that is fixed at the rest of the original hook with a heat resistant adhesive (for example "JB Weld") .
