Z1 Technical Day 2017?

Post by Jet »

Advance notice:

Haven't got round to the fine detail yet, but advance notice of my plan to organise a technical day next year, similar format to 2014, if this receives enough support.

What: Z1 technical Day 2017
Where: TBC
When: See below
Who: You
How much: Cost reduces the more support received
Accommodation: Depending on numbers, negotiate deal with local hotelier

2014 Reminder:

Something you would be interested in??

Great idea Jamal, the last one was very informative, subject to dates I'd be very interested. Who's your guru this time?

It depends on how much support the idea receives, if we get the same numbers then yes, or somewhere similar with the same facilities or better.

Taking into account some of you attend the Loire Valley Tour later in May, I am thinking May 13/14 or June 10/11?

What else is going on around that time?

Is the venue same as last time?

Hi, as a new Z1 owner I'm very keen to join your Technical Day. Is there still space? and is it May 20/21? Thank you, Toby

TJ Et Al,

Date-wise our host would prefer June 3-4th due to other commitments.
I trust this is convenient for everyone. Agenda to be published at a later date.

JB

Re valuation, no problem, next week would work.

Jet has kindly pointed out that if I am to join you on the technical day, I should at least introduce myself first (thank you Jet).
Firstly, a pre-Christmas rush of blood is how I came to join the Z1 owners group. I'd fancied them since university, saw one for sale at Munich Legends and managed to convince Mrs J that it would be a sound investment (man maths at its finest).
As you can imagine, I am now very frustrated by the weather, but have somehow managed to put 300km on it anyway ("its got a very good heater for such an old car" as my son says) and its been all smiles so far.
If any of you are in the Epsom area be sure to say 'hi' if you see me out and about.

Really don't want to miss out on this.

Costs:

For transparency and security, all funding will go via the BMWCC club office, they will ensure everything is paid for and we contribute towards it as per previous arrangement.

Venue Hire - Confirmed
Costs - TBC
Host expenses - TBC
Equipment - TBC
Sustenance - TBC

Rene is looking forward to it and sends his regards. I have most of your contact details, so keep an eye on your mailboxes for further information as things progress

Jet,

Can you possibly throw some light on a couple of issues.
You describe this event as a Technical "Day", but you give two dates, the 2nd and 3rd June.
Are we all clear this is a Friday and a Saturday?

Thanks

LHD has been v easy so far, but I am re-running in the engine after 5 years SORN, so haven't tried to overtake anything yet.
The early miles have taken a bit of toll on the doors tho' - leaving them open has led to scratches already.
Any top tips on how to avoid this? (keep them v. clean, I suppose?)

Yes and no, keeping it clean from the inside is best case, but means lower panel off, clean, sand, then polish. Worst case scenario it needs adjustment to prevent the parts making contact or worst worst case, the lower panel/door panel is warped, pushing against each other. It shouldn't be, but throw it in there just in case.

Familiar with panel removal?

Hi Jamal / everyone.
Just to confirm that I can't make the technical day as it's my birthday that weekend and also a house warming party, and no Jamal I don't want to swop for an apartment in London. But thanks for the offer.
Hope you have a great weekend and hoping to make the next one and all being well i'll see you at Wroxall Abbey / Gaydon later in the year.

Hi Chaps and sorry for being late onto this post. It has been a while since my last confession :-)

I cannot do May 20th, as we are out of the country. Other than the week immediately following that (not back yet) and the Le Mans 24 dates June 15th to 19th inclusive, I would move heaven and earth to be there, as I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I don't envy you trying to find an optimal date and please don't bugger it up on my account if everyone else can make the window I'm away in May.

I'm also away again at the very end of August and into September, but I am guessing that is out of the scope of this?

Well done Jamal for sorting another of these out and I am all for Keith as Guru - sort of a Ravi Shankar role? :rtm:
