After long time of dreaming about it, a friend finally handed his z1 for the last 20 years, that started to smell of fuel about 15 years ago..... And parked ever since.
Mostly complete and intact, but bad storage left its marks.
Needs new interior , or a very good cleaning, new rear window (or a whole roof? For that), left rear panel and left under door panel are cracked from theft attemp and some interior parts saw better days.
Where do you recommend to start? I will tow it to my mechanics to inspect everything including fuel lines before first start attempt.
I assume it will get all new brakes and suspension parts .
I want it to look new again!
Every bit of help would be very appreciated.
DrSasha.
Pics to follow.
Car is black with grey interior.
Excited! Reviving a z1 that was sleeping for 15 years
Re: Excited! Reviving a z1 that was sleeping for 15 years
Exciting stuff. Good luck!
I would start by ensuring nothing can degrade further. So getting the car checked by a mechanic sounds a good plan.
I guess next steps may depend on if you want to patch it up and drive it as soon as possible, doing a rolling restoration. Or keep it off the road for a major restoration.

Re: Excited! Reviving a z1 that was sleeping for 15 years
It's alive!
Changed fuel pump to make sure it has no melted plastic parts to clog the engine (it did!), changed fluids, and started on first try!
The bad part is that many rubber parts disintegrated. Fuel lines, seal rubbers, suspension, fender liners.....
Lots of work ahead. Will post pics later.
Driver door not working. Windows not rising but I can hear the motor....
That's the next on the list while ordering new brake parts
