Rear Spoiler/Lip
Rear Spoiler/Lip
I think the front of the Zed looks great and very sporty, as well as complimenting side skirts. I just feel the rear end doesnt match up. I have noticed some various OEM lip and spoilers (costly) and aftermarket ones too, mainly from the US. Bim Bimma on here has a great one which is the kind of one Im after. Below are some examples of ones Im considering. The first one is quite cheap, but would you say its too much? 2nd is by Hamann and 3rd is an OEM BMW part that will cost at least £200 from a dealer.
Any opinions muchly appreciated

My opinion is that none looks best, thats all? if you want to ruin the look of your car go ahead and fit the one second down, that looks truly shocking, er I mean cool.
Thanks for the input CW. Im actually only 27 too, Im just clinging on to youth for as long as I can. With a spoiler I will feel at least 2 years younger
Do you mean the red and clear rear lights? The only ones I can find are about 90 squids which seems little steep to me. Perhps I should look for ex M lights?

While I agree that the back does not look as good as the front, I am also aware that the aerodynamics are important too. Most rear spoilers for any car are not worth anything as far as aerodynamics are concerned.
As the owner of a modified ///M and into many more mods, I plan on putting mine through a wind tunnel after all else and seeing just what benefit and design I might need for a rear spoiler. Once that has been done and a custom one made I will gladly share the design with others.
Don't look for anything this year though as the other work on the car takes priority at this point.
Cheers

Now with both the 411 bhp Supercharged Z3MR and a WRX STi Wagon getting a 3.4 litre transplant and an XKR with mods planned.
Fast is good, faster is better. Wheeeeee !!!

IMHO I don't think that any of the spoilers you've pictured are particularly attractive. I can't recall any picture of a z3 with a spoiler where I've thought that it improved the rear end looks. I'd be tempted to go for some clear rears and a stubby aerial to freshen it up a bit first.
You can get clear rears for £70 (inc p&p) here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Z3-red-white- ... dZViewItem

Out of curiosity, where has your chrome boot lock surround gone?
I prefer no spoiler, but out of the set it has to be the one on the white Z3. As has been said, I think the money would be better invested on a set of red/clear rear lights. I've never been a fan of a spoiler on a convertible of any kind

It wasn't standard on all models. Some have fitted it aftermarket, but it is a risky procedure as many have seen rust appear a while after due to improper seal.Mikemac wrote:Chrome boot surround
Previous owner must have removed it then. Thats odd.
IMO you are better off without it.
G-Power do a really nice subtle lip spoiler. Jay has it on his Phoenix ///M If I went for any I would have that one.
