Yesterday I failed an MOT on emissions.
The computer showed up a Lambda fault - so the indy replaced the O2 sensor. The car failed yet again - and only passed after they borrowed a MAF from another car.
1. Does it make sense that both were defective - or was the replacement of the O2 sensor unnecessary?
2. Until I get a new MAF - what affect does a defective MAF have on the car? eg petrol consumption, Performance?
3. Do I need the whole "T" or is this enough:

Lambda
Looks like another bit of garage guesswork with the customer's money.
A duff air sensor would prevent the mixture from being corrected by the lambda signal, hence the lambda error message. A good diagnostic engineer has to see beyond the basic symptom to find the cause - that's what they are paid for.
