Replacing Steering Wheel SRS Badge Z3 1.9 Roadster ??

Post by GIB »

Could you please advise me how to remove the existing steering wheel, black leather SRS Badge? It has been suggested that I simply pull it off and away from the steering wheel. I wondered if this would release the AIRBAG ?
I desire to replace it with a Chrome SRS Badge, but do not want to damage or release the AIRBAG.
Does the SRS badge have any relevance to the AIRBAG release?????

Please advise, I welcome your help and guidence,
Thanking you,
Graham ( GIB )

Does the chrome badge not simply fit over the existing leather embossed item..?

Perhaps it would be better to ring your local BMW dealer to check this - at least this will put your mind at rest :)

Graham, all you have to do is gently pull the old one away from the steering wheel as it is held in place by a central peg which is a push fit into a hole on the wheel. It may need a firm tug!! OOOOerrrrrr!! There is no risk to the airbag going off as this part is cosmetic only. It has no bearing on the function of the airbags. There is no problem at all as you are nowhere near any triggering mechanisms. I changed it on my old 318is and it looked cool.
We all have a photographic memory, just some don't take the lens cap off!
