But are they any good? I've been looking for ages for a pair that won't judder or squeak, so far no joy...the search goes on! Would be interested to know how they perform.

I have these fitted to mine and think they are a great improvement. They look a lot more modern and don't get any juddering or funny noises.

But I have been through a few sets over the years, they seem to break easily but for the price they are a good mod :thumb:

You might find this thread useful (there are not many Z3 parts that have not been tried before on here ;-)

Might try some when my current ones are knackered. I ve got some bosch ones fitted at the moment and the passenger side blade does not connect with the edge of the screen when 'parked'
I like to keep an open mind..new products..onwards and upwards and all that ......or should I say side to side :)

I fitted some 'normal' non-aero Bosch blades when I first got the car a couple of months ago...they were whisper quite for the first few weeks then started the juddering again :head:

Actually I've also just fitted a pair of Valeo aero style wipers, and although a great improvement over the Bosch still judder now and then. At the same time I also fitted a cheaper pair of aero blades the the OH's Civic and they don't make any noise at all and clear the screen very efficiently...she's well chuffed with them!

I did notice that the cheaper blades had more of a curve on them and seemed to be 'softer' then the Valeo's, maybe that made the difference? They look nicer to so I'll probably try them next time.

I've had retrofit aero blades on my Polo and they don't quite look as good as proper aero wipers with the correct arms. Do we know if there are any aero arms that are a direct replacement for the Z?

I've got Bosch aero blades on my M3 and they are very good. I've been talking to the guys at www.wiperblades.co.uk but there's no Bosch aero ones listed for the Z3 and they're not sold seperatley.

I'm gonna try a set of the Valeo ones, see what they're like.

It's such a relief to read the posts up on this site.
All of the (to be fair) few things that had been bugging me about my Z seem to be common issues, that are nothing major to be worried about, and easily solved. The noisy/annoying windscreen wipers being one of them.
Went for a set of these myself this morning, and by all accounts should arrive tomorrow.
Will post up my findings here, for those who are interested.

I got a pair of these ebay aero wipers a few months ago

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0368833677

They seemed ok at first but soon started to squeek anoyingly. I tried oiling and checking for any play in the arms but noticed the only play was in the cheap plastic mounting bracket of the new blades. I read a few online reviews which all concluded to use either Bosch or Valeo blades. Bosch aero blades seemd overpriced but I got some Valeo R51 Valeo Compact Revolution Retrofit Flat Wiper Blades from www.wiperblades.co.uk for £18 inc delivery. These have been much better and no longer cause any noise.

Interestingly I was able to put the ebay ones on my girlfriends Polo on which they seem to work just fine. I think the Z3 is more suscetable to slack in the blade mounting.

I got two Goodyear ones out of Costco last night for the wench's car as her blades were actually falling off the car. Popped them on this morning as the bike warmed up & they work a treat.
Only £6ish each too. Well worth grabbing.

Does anyone know the sizes the Z3 uses? I'll grab some for that whilst they are in stock.

How the hell are you supposed to get the wipers off?
The bonnet is in the way of the passenger blade (LHD).
I can slide it off the hook but there's no way there's enough space to actually remove the blade off the arm :head:

Ignition on,wipers on.

Stop the wipers in the vertical position by switching the igniton off,not the wiper switch.

Been away since Thursday, but got back tonight and the wiper blades were sat on the doorstep, along with some other parcels... must remember to thank the stamen for leaving them there since Friday morning!

Anyway. Fitted them, turned them on and NO squeak!!
Obviously they have not yet been used in anger. But so far far things are looking and sounding good. And for under £8, well, you can't complain.

Turns out it says in the manual you have to put them into the vertical position..

Who'd have thought you'd have to RTFM to change the wiper blades

On another note, I've properly scuffed the wiper arms now and they look like crap with the silver metal coming underneath the paint :(

I got some new wiper blades delivered today but can't figure out how you actually remove the old wiper blades (and I don't have the manual with me)? As I'm in Scotland with constant sub-zero temepratures for the last few weeks, the combination of grit and salt from the road not being wiped away properly by the crappy old blades (assuming the washer fluid hasn't frozen as well!) makes driving hazardous, so I'm keen to sort it out before the journey home tonight.

I've searched the forum and found all the advice about moving the wipers to the vertical position and pulling them away from the windscreen (remembering to put them back again before turning on the ignition!), but there doesn't seem to be anything on here about actually removing the blades.

I'm clearly being really thick here and you'd think it would be straighforward, but the typical bloke's approach of trying to use brute force is just going to break something.

Where am I going wrong?

This video might help. It's not specifically Z3 or Aero blades but gives you the general idea.
