Door handles?

Post by Alfie »

Hey all.

I've got the opportunity of buying a pair of chrome door handles for The Zed at a reasonable price.

Looks to me like it's a dealer job to get them fitted.
Scotthalls in Ruislip just quoted me £246.75 for fitting.....OUCH!
And no, that doesn't include buying the new handles!

So....
Has anyone done this job themselves and is it possible to DIY?
If not, does anyone know where I can get it done significantly cheaper without voiding my BMW warranty?

With the added detraction of having to carry another key, it's looking like the 'stick on' covers are a better way to go. I know they're not the 'real thing', but the cash pot ain't exactly bottomless!

Any suggestions?

Cheers!
Alfie.

Hi Alfie

It can be a DIY job. I changed mine about 4 years ago. Follow the link below to Ron Stygar's website. It will give you an idea of what's involved in removing the door panel.

It took me most of a Sunday afternoon but I think they look much better than the stick on versions.

I should still have some other photos somewere. Send me a pm with your email and I'll send them to you.
