Standard BMW Alarm/Immobiliser & Electric Windows

Post by Dazmond »

Hi Guys,

I have recieved conflicting stories on this from fellow BMW owners and was wondering if anyone could clear this up. Should my standard BMW Alarm system & immobiliser shut the windows if left open? It does not currently.

I own a 98 Z3 2.8.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Not on my 99.

You can close the windows by using the key in the lock and holding the key in the locked position for a couple of seconds.

nope,

not on mine either.

Its a shame, its a very nice tool to have..

There was something special about walking up to my old 911, whilst pressing the roof button...

watching the roof and windows all drop from 40meters away... ensuring a cool car by the time I arrived.

I wonder if there is an aftermarket Mod for the windows.

Well, an EASY one anyway.

...my E39 has the same keyfob as my MY2001 z3 and it closes the windows...

I have not actually tried to see if the Zed will close the windows for me!!

On the E39 you press and hold the lock button and the windows rise. If you let the button go, they stop.

Worth a try...

Meant to add... it would be a simple thing to add window closure to the car - a generic closure module costs about £25.... from the likes of MicroScan.

on the E46 you can open or close the windows with the key fob remotely, which is quite neat.
