new door handle, exhaust tips and strutt covers on today

Post by 321bhp »

nice sunny day so thought id get the jobs done on the z3,
the door handles were a bit fiddly youve got to offer them up and make sure they fit before you fit them properly, took about 20 mins each side

exhaust tips, ive been soaking the old ones in wd40 for a few days, got underneath and used a flat bladed screwdriver to punch them off working around each one a little at a time, took about 20mins off and 5mins new ones on,
strutt covers 5 seconds a peice, they just tidy up the engine bay,if you want a pair youll need to go to bmw and ask for them for the m3 evo not the z3
all in all a productive few hours, regards terry

Chrome tail tips may be my only concession to chrome on the exterior.

I just got quoted £40 inc vat & delivered from dealer, and am tempted - oh so tempted... 8-)

Does that sound reasonable Terry?

Chrome tips are approx £20 from Batemans BMW, price about 6 weeks ago, so £40 sounds alot. If you need a link just let me know.

Thanks Gill,

I think I shall ring around then. That price was from a dealer who offer discounts through another BMW forum to members. May well be they are getting lazy with the discount!

Would prefer the black tips if I can get them, as I'm not really a magpie...

Hi Legend

Thanks for the write up, can you confirm that the chrome tips are slightly oval in shape, it does look like it from your pics.
My exhaust pipes are slightly oval (2.8 engine), just to make sure that the tips will push straight onto my exhaust before purchase. :D

exhaust tips are £18.84 each without the vat from main dealer and are oval at the ends part number 18.10.7.500.200
the strutt covers are £10.59 each without the vat from main dealer, part number 31.31.2.227.387

and if you have lost the tiny little rubber grommet that sits on the petrol cap door they are 16p each ,but you have to buy 2 part number 51.17.8.153.364

Thanks for the info... been quoted varying prices so far. £45 was the most quoted so far by a dealer.
