I have the Peake R5/FCX-3-U http://www.peakeresearch.com/fcx3.htm. A little more pricey, but works with everything I have tried it on, including the Wife's E60 530d.

Anyone tried one of these?

http://www.bmwcable.com/

They are also on eBay! USB connection would be handy!! You can get the 20pin adaptor too! (which I would need)

I have emailed them to see if it will cover the z! So I will let you know when they respond!

I have this one (the $46 cable only option):

http://carsoftwest.com/services.html

Takes a while, as it comes from the USA, and had to pay a small customs charge, but I was 100% certain it would work. Have it running with Carsoft - really easy to install and use.

PS, in Buckinghamshire if anyone needs a code-read.
