This is something I've been mulling over. Who, where, what, how much etc?
I am getting it from royal steering wheels, spoke to Jack very helpful. Have bought an exchange wheel off eBay so that I can keep my original wheel, it is done on an exchange basis.

I have chosen perforated sides and smooth leather top and bottom, but with a black strip at the top to signify the 12 o clock position, all with M stitching. Also having the wheel thicker and softer. Cost is £115 plus postage.

Sounds great - look forward to seeing pictures when you get it.

If an original OEM aerial, I'd like to know how you did that.

Yes it is and was so easy. Unscrew the aerial, using long nose pliers remove the old grommet (mine was badly perished), soak the new grommet in very hot soapy water, place it over the hole ensuring the angle of the grommet is correct to the car body, give it a very firm smack with the palm of your hand and you should hear a satisfying "pop" as the grommet goes in place and engages in the aerial base knuckle. Bingo!

This is worthy of the knowledge base!

Thanks Stu, when I've saved up enough money to buy a replacement, I shall give it a go.

Not on my car as they are now in storage until next year. I'm planning to fit some new rubber on them and fit them next year and give the Type II's a year off.

This is a set fitted to a coupe in 18's:

I bought Zelda a spare key for her Alpina Wheel centre caps, (original a bit bent after difficulty locking a stubborn cap.) However, found on e-bay a little device that cures that problem, a simple lever that puts pressure on the cap around the lock area and makes locking/unlocking hassle free. I do have a second key for this,.......somewhere! It's In a safe place with the second lot of car keys! So safe even I can't remember where they are. :head:

Cheers, Bonzo. 8-)

Don't go there !!
Those used to be popular here in SA once, and in some circles they are still in vogue ( 50 years later).

They were available in stanard short pile, fabric, and "Flokati" (read "shaggy" !) The colours in the Flokati were outrageous, and people that bought them usually had a set of large fluffy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, and if that wasn't enough, a plastic orange stuck to the tip of the (whippy) aerial. Some even had the "optional" boot "wing" (vs spoiler).

I think the local pop song of the time was (We love...) "Braaivleis, sunny skies and Chevrolet" and Saturday night at the Drive-In cinema was the main gathering place to show off all these grotesque auto accessories...that, horrogs, burgers, coke (with Brandy sneaked in) paisley print shirts, long hair and moustaches...and if you were really "in" you had the Tom Jones fuzz down the cheeks too...

Never been tempted by the dash rugs...but some of the other 60's stuff was really good s*it !! :colourful:
