Z3 body kits, skirts, spoilers pics request..

Post by Z3cade »

Was just wondering what add-ons, kits and spoilers were/are available for the z3/z3m..

Would be good to see pictures of the Aero kit that was available from bmw if anyone has any?

I see the word Aero and Hamann extras come up a lot but would like to see what these were like? Are they really as Rare as they seem to be??

Also Please post up pics of your body kits, bumpers, spoilers etc..

I have an idea that Rob has the OEM Schnitzer kit...He recently posted that he had managed to aquire the side skirts etc etc...I may be confused, but he also has more wheels than a horse and trailer..and they're all OEM..infact, I suspect he want's to open a Z3 motor museum with his car surrounded by all the OEM options ever made... :D

Anyone know whose car this is? My M is currently having the same style spoiler attached (cue the purists hatred) and I am wondering how the BMW badge stayed in place?

If you look on the gallery page you will see his progress thread a few up from the bottom of the first page. He tends to frequent .org more but is on there less than he used to be :(

Really like the rear treatment. So good on a silver car.
Any more pics and care to explained what you did- is it a spray job or an insert?
Not sure it would work as well on my Montreal Blue but might give it a try at some stage withe plasti dip so I can reverse it if it doesn't work well.
I'd suggest on you silver car to smoke the headlights, fogs and grill to match.
Lovely stance too.

Bet you have to watch the potholes and taxi sized speed humps out there!

Thanks both. I have checked out his thread (viewtopic.php?f=32&t=30490&start=50) and I am seriously considering following his lead and modifying the spoiler to go round the badge like he did on page 2.

I've PM him to see if there were any issues with water gathering etc but I think this is the way I am going to go on the back of my M - let me know your thoughts

z3cade, there are few respectable tuning companies who did aero for z3. Most of them you can easily find by Googling. Bellow is more or less complete list of parts they made:

Hamann - front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, front lip, flippers for front lip, rear diffuser (various m and non-m), rear spoiler (various for roadsters and coupes), mirrors, taillights (coupe and roadster), fog lights (m and non-m) eyebrows, roll hoops, hard-top, side grilles.
AC Schnitzer - front bumper, non-m rear diffuser, splitters, mirrors, roll hoops, fogs for m, rear spoiler for coupe.
Wiessmann - hard top.
Lumma Design - front and rear bumper.
G-Power - front fenders, rear diffuser for m, hood, splitters.
CarLine Tuning - front bumper.
Rieger - lip for non-m.

Most of these parts are NLA now and very rare. Some of them pop up on ebay on very rare occasions or you can ask on forums if you want to find something particular and if you are lucky someone can offer something. Some parts were replicated (like hamann rear spoiler or eyebrows) by others, and there are many ricer parts from china (side skirts, front bumpers, etc) which most probably you don't want to see on your car if you are older than 16.

Many pics with OEM aero kit (without side grilles) are here: http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16495

Thanks Dino D
I had the rear section sprayed and used lamin-x film on the tail lights, I also did a test run using gloss black vinyl wrap before committing to paint, I've thought about doing the headlights and fogs. As for the potholes I have to be careful with both the Zeds as they are both running 19" wheels with lowered suspension, to be honest most of the roads are in good shape.

Didn't havee any issues with the spoiler just take time in marking and cutting. Also put a groove on the backside to let water drain else it will fill up in the recess.
