Re: Hamann hardtops...
That is so cool!! Do you want to post the pics / info that autovogue sent you...
Re: Hamann hardtops...
Have Autovogue quoted any painting costs? so whats the cost all in including fitting?Deano1712 wrote:Yes Barry you have it right. Metallic grey is most likely the best.
I got Autovogue to mail me details of the hardtop including pictures and scope of supply. It feels slightly risky being the ginea pig but they know more orders may follow if this one goes smoothly. Delivery is stated as 6 weeks which is better than previously quoted.
I have visions of a german guy dusting off the moulds and asking for manufacturing instructions to be retrieved from the archive:-|

Re: Hamann hardtops...
Just found this on a recent thread, grey Hamann Hardtop
Re: Hamann hardtops...
Well done, interested to see what colour you go for, especially on a silver z3m
Re: Hamann hardtops...
There is a picture here of a silver car with a grey hardtop
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&si ... B300%3B198
I think it needs to be a darker grey than that.

I have asked if they will fit it for me, but will be getting it sprayed elsewhere.TitanTim wrote:Have Autovogue quoted any painting costs? so whats the cost all in including fitting?

Re: Hamann hardtops...
Deano, The pic in your link looks great...You did notice it had the "other" Hamann rood...the one which is plain / flat on top. I hope youve specified the "roll hoop" version from autovogue...
Re: Hamann hardtops...
I like this one ......................a lot
Re: Hamann hardtops...
I really want one of these hardtops. I've tried to contact Hamann directly but get nothing back from them.
So if someone manages to get hold of one of these hardtops, i'd be very interested to hear the story, or if you manage to get hold of anyone who sells them.
This adds fuel to my desire
It's just a little sleeker than the BMW one..........

For the cost I'd have to leave it on all year

your right sir.
im selling my hardtop as I've got a new soft top.
The hamann top is nice but expensive unless you use it all year.
leaving a hardtop on for long periods will damage your soft top.
Ive found that out the hard way.

Re: Hamann hardtops...
I know this is sacriledge, but if i had one id consider removing the soft top completely. After all, id never want to take it off!
That way id still have storage in the hood recess

I'm afraid I'm on the same page as Mozza but then I suppose there will always be divided opinions and those who wish to look a little different from the masses.... I think it's fair to say Deano's Zed has definitely broke the mould....maurice the martian wrote:Sorry but i dont get it

To be honest I'm with you on the what's the point comment. I always took that view with the standard top. The hamann version gives me the horn though. I don't plan to fit it all the time. Far from it. When it's not fitted it will be hanging on the lounge wall

If I fitted one it would stay on permanently, don't think I would ever go for another soft top car again

Re: Hamann hardtops...
Autovogue just let me know the order is now placed with Hamann and delivery is 6 weeks. Thats good news - I was concerned when the chips were down there may have been a snag there. So we are properly off, payment made and taken, and order placed
The hardtop needs spraying before fitting so it seems getting Autovogue to fit is not worth it. They want monies to fit too so I will leave that. A post I found on bimmerforums had a link to the fitting instructions. The rear window is glued in place after spraying so it needs it needs a fair bit of work before it is ready to be fitted.

I admire you Deano
I would not even consider buying something that needed so much work
even before fitting it
Thats why you have such an amazing car
i bet the results will be worth waiting for

Im booked for the event. If its delivered and painted by then I'm wondering whether I have an option to turn up without it fitted

Re: Hamann hardtops...
I think not. You could always turn up with it on then remove it and we could arrange for it to be centre stage on a podium in a display room and by the sounds of it members will pay good money to walk around and admire itDeano1712 wrote:Im booked for the event. I'm watching with interest how quickly Autovogue process the order, I'm not holding my breath as they don't seem interested in returning phone calls etc. Hopefully I will be proved wrong.Eastsix wrote:Deano1712 wrote:Need some help choosing a colour on an Arctic Silver car. Sorry guys won't be me, piggy bank is well and truly empty now.
Mrs made me buy her a new car which we picked up on Friday. That's what you get for not telling her your buying another car. I feel like I've been done, paid for 2 got 1, shouldn't it be the other way around

Kia sportage 3 (nav) a lot of car for £20k and will be a great pram to ferry the 3 year old around. SWMBO is chuffed with it but I would rather have a hamman hardtop

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
