Hello~ Mind Zed is RHD 1.9 M44, actually I have checked the manifolds is the same parts number for RHD & LHD even the same as 318is, but I dont understand why the parts number is difference as the U.S version.
In fact, I want to buy the manifolds from schmiedmann but bit sure it is fit for my baby or not, any body help?

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
I'd advise you to contact them direct and ask, then the onus is on them to give you the correct information, rather than finding you have a part you can't use. I don't think there are many owners of US-spec cars on this forum to be able to give you an answer to the differences between US and EU M44 cars and why they have different manifolds.sobe_on wrote: In fact, I want to buy the manifolds from schmiedmann but bit sure it is fit for my baby or not, any body help?

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
US spec LHD manifold will not fit a RHD Z3, clashes with steering column
I have had first hand experience of this. thats why i made my own downpipe

Still modifying

wow, dude` thanks for your comment heremarkrnorton wrote:US spec LHD manifold will not fit a RHD Z3, clashes with steering column

in fact, i have check with the seller and he told me that it is fit for EU M44 cars and cannot be fit for US M44.
But the problem I'm afraid is the down pipe, as you can see it is one 4-2-1 instead of the original (4-2)+(2-1).
so my big question now is want to know that should be the same for EU M44 even RHD & LHD?
If yes, i can order ASAP.
After installed that, maybe i'll change into 57mm throttle 7 go for ECU chip and remap

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
BMW list the same part number for European-spec M44 cars regardless of whether they are LHD or RHD. If you use RealOem.com you can confirm this.
Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
After checking that and think I need to cut my down pipe for installation.

After discussing with engineering and order the manifold from Schmiedmann alreadysobe_on wrote:After checking that and think I need to cut my down pipe for installation.

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
so, do you think it is fit for EU-RHD Z3 if the seller said the manifold must be fit for EU-LHD Z3?markrnorton wrote:US spec LHD manifold will not fit a RHD Z3, clashes with steering column

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
Oh...my god!!
The manifold arrived but the #3 pipe clog up the steering column....(no problem for #1, #2, #4)
I have found a garage to reshape for me and the new shape should me like below in purple line:
Any dude have reshape it as above and installed?

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
I would return it and ask them to supply the correct one
The pipes are all supposed to be equal length, reshaping will make one outlet longer and will imbalance the manifold, You could end up with less performance, not more.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Yes, this is the only thing I considergookah wrote:I would return it and ask them to supply the correct one

But. I think that will be better than the original manifold because it is steel....,you think correct?

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
I am no expert in the design, but personally I would not risk it..
I would think altering this manifold will cause an imbalance, you may also have problems with the new welds and the flow will not be smooth past the new profile. Also the new welds cannot be polished internally where they are.
Stainless is longer lasting, but not if it causes problems because a weld cracks...
I would return them and ask if they do a version that fits correctly.

Re: M44 exhausts manifolds
In fact, I didn't found a manifold only for RHD, that's why I bet it but finally lose...
Yes, you are right and this is a risk if go for reshape with weld crack.
