Wind Deflector question
I've got hold of one of the wind deflectors to fit roll hoops. It arrived like this:
I seem to be missing a piece because it looks like it's supposed to clip onto something. Anyone know the part i'm missing and where to get hold of it?
Thanks

Re: Wind Deflector question
There should be two short straps (approx 2 inches) with male connectors that fit into the female in your picture.
The other end of the strap is a U-shaped metal hook the slides under the speaker trim panel to prevent the whole deflector from lifting off.

Wind deflector rollover protection syst. - BMW parts catalog
Part #2 above. You need two of them. Coopers are quoting 84 pence each.

My car has straps at the both front and rear of the deflector.

Re: Wind Deflector question
You could probably make some easily enough, if you can get the right size connector:

Re: Wind Deflector question
Mike, the deflector pictured above has two straps at the front, and as far as I can tell is identical to mine. Does yours have straps in place of the eyes that go over the tonneau pins? And if so what does the metal hook attach to?Mike Fishwick wrote:My car has straps at the both front and rear of the deflector.
Edit: Just answered my own question - found one on ebay with four straps, and the rear straps are in place of the eyelets for the tonneau pins - with this kind of deflector you would need four of the hooks.

Re: Wind Deflector question
My car was built in October 1998, so perhaps it is another of the changes introduced withthe double VANOS engine?

Re: Wind Deflector question
I picked up a wind deflector at the weekend and you basically need the following bits :
If you don't have these then it's basically 'incomplete' so maybe you need to go back to the seller as he may have the bits somewhere.

Re: Wind Deflector question
I bought a packet of the plastic clips to mate with the wind deflector and made up two straps with black (suspender?) elastic and some stainless steel wire.
If you get stuck pm me with your address and I will send you a couple, I will probably never use them.
