In-Dash DVD Players

Post by g8jka »

Has anyone got one in their Z?

My Oxygen OCar unit seems to have given up on me so it looks like I'm in need of a new head unit. I have been looking at single din DVD players but not for the DVD function itself, more for the fact of the large screen and sat nav compatibility etc. I know its pretty much going to block the 2 centre vents but I'm not too fussed about that.

Anyone who has got one, what do you think of them and do you have any pics of them fitted?

Thanks :D

I still have the pioneer in ours, can not fault it. You can also get the satnav add on function but its not cheap, around £300 plus the £400ish for the head unit. But because they are separate you can buy them in stages. The pioneer also has the option of various colour schemes for the display.

Save your pennies and go for a Becker, well worth the investment and will get your money back if you decide to sell.

Never fancied a Becker unit, although they look similar to oem I have never really liked the looks for some reason.

I want something a bit brighter with a screen for sat nav

Go for the Becker Cascade Pro and you get a nice lady giving you instructions, worth the 600 notes in my book  Added bonus is you can set the screen colour to match the dash lighting. Great sounding units.

Each to their own but we are both trying to bring our cars into this century.
I already have
Bluetooth music streaming and hands free.
Remote window closure
Remote start
Remote roof
Drive off locking (anti car jacking)
Front parking camera
Footwell lighting
Engine start button
Pager alarm

Its not bling, its modern technology in an old car that we still prefer to a modern car.

I also have an old house, but don't want a black and white telly 'just to maintain the look'...... :D

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

I think BMG has a 'cassette' player in his.... (I will explain what one of those is to you next time your here with your iPod)
I can also go through something that was known as a 'CD',
Oh... and before SAT NAV's there was something that was the size of the windscreen that was made of paper and had drawings of a selection of roads on each sheet. I think it was called a SAT LAS or something, its that long ago I forget now.... :D

If you do go ahead and get a 7in screen you will need a amp and sub, so when you put a film on it's like being in the cinema ,

They are already in as well as uprated speakers all round. They sounded great with the old unit, just hope the new one is as good.
