Chrome strip boot brakelight

Post by Alan W »

My black 2.8 facelift has the factory installed internal and external chrome packs and on yesterday's Kent mini cruise there was a black 1.9 with an external chrome pack identical to mine but I noticed that the strip that fits on top of the boot lid brake light was also chrome whereas mine is black? Its the first time I've ever seen this on a Z and wondered does anyone know whether this was a standard / OEM item or aftermarket, where I could get one, and a rough price?

Thank you in advance

Alan

It's a BMW part, but AFAIK it only fits facelifted cars.

If you go to realoem.com and enter your chassis number you can get part numbers for every part that is on or available for your car.

I think mine was around 90 quid but never fitted it as I was too chicken taking the light assembly apart, I was worried it might leak after fiddling

Zettiworld sell them

150euros. It's very easy to fit though, I replaced my red 3rd brake light for a white one which is exactly the same process (and no leaks) :D

Hi,can anyone please post a pic of this Chrome strip boot brakelight as I'm unsure as to what we're talking about. Also I've seen various logo's on cars 3rd brake lights and I wondered if they are available for a Z3. They usually consist of a cut out chrome decal which adheres to the brake light lens.
