I f you remove the cover, and take it to a metal polishing shop, you can have it polished to a brilliant shine...it's made from aluminium, and that'll polish a good as chrome...

The cover you see is plastic. If you remove this you'll see the rocker cover which is aluminium

I may be wrong but I reckon you will struggle to get a chrome kit to "beautify" the engine. Those kits tend to be available for older cars and typically some of the older US muscle car engines. The plastic covers on most modern engines are just providing limited protection against damp and dust for things like the plugs, coils and fuel rail/injectors. I've seen the BMW square oil filler cap in polished metal - but they seem to be very rare. Most enthusiast BMW engines I've seen have simply added "beautification" in the form of air filter boxes, strut braces, repainting of the BMW logo, back-to-black type plastic treatment and a general clean/de-grease. I've had pleasing results cleaning aluminium bits in situ with wire wool and Autosol.

Yalden has a fitted a range of 'bling' to his engine bay in some items from the Mirage stainless steel range.

I've fitted the oil filler cap which was about £30-40 but is extremely well made.
