Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody could tell me where the seat occupancy sensor actually is on a standard facelift Z3 seat? Is it just linked to the seat belt pre-tensioner, or is it a mat, under the seat foam?
Answers on a postcard.
Thanks in advance,
David
Where is the seat occupancy sensor located?

Where is the seat occupancy sensor located?
It's a pressure sensitive pad in the seat cushion
Kneeling on the seats had been cited as a cause of failure and replacement involves stripping the seat coverings.
Not a complicated but quite tedious job.

Thanks Titan,
Mine haven't actually failed at all...
As Barry already knows, I'm looking into the possibility of transplanting them into another set of seats and swapping the bases over.
This set of seats may not necessarily be a Z3 set, or even from another BMW car.
So watch this space!!!
(I'm aware of the size issues regarding replacing Z3 seats, so I will keep everyone updated with my progress, if any.)

Re: Where is the seat occupancy sensor located?
If the occupancy sensor does fail, ther are enough people on Ebay who sell bypass units for about £10. These simply plug into the sensor socket and stop the warning lamp operating. The only downside is that if fitted to the passenger seat the airbag will operate in a percieved crash situation even if not occupied.
A Z3 is not just for Christmas - it's for life!
