Torx screws for Hardtop (2 x for top window frame)

Post by fish »

Hi - just got hardtop..but no screws -

Will contact BMW, as looks like 54 21 8 410 534 - looks like internal torx M8x18 -

Does anyone know of a good supply of these, (Halfords?), else am sure BMW prices will be ok - always good to know the alternatives though…..

- note as well as OEM, I found this web site too - I have never seen these on searches….

I would get the BMW parts. They appear to be bespoke for this application and have a point on the threaded end in order to aid screwing them in. Strangely enough, a pair were already in the wind screen frame when I bought the zed, but no other fitting parts were installed. And no kit fitted previous to me because the original foam covers were in the area behind the seats where the hardtop mounts go.

As others have said BMW is your best route, the bolts are bespoke with a tapered top and a rubber "o" ring to hold in place whilst not in use.

Coopers Online Parts are showing them at £6.50ea

The "O" ring is also a seal to stop the ingress of water into the windscreen frame.
